Kernel panics, daily nearly

I could use some advice for path forward....

Older (2009) 17" Macbook Pro, heavy usage so I can't live without!

Been gettting kernel panics about 1x week until this week, now almost daily. Latest KP report is below. I've got a call in to local folks who help me with stuff, no Apple store in town. What's best path forward?

Thanks in advance... hopefully, it will keep working a few more days until I can either replace or get help!

Is there a way to re-boot in Safe Mode but then override certain features of Safe Mode? I am specifically interested in getting the USB and Firewire ports to work in Safe Mode and to have sound work in Safe Mode. Is there some move I can make to manually turn these things back on, so to speak, or codes/commands I can use in Terminal?

I ask because I am waiting to uninstall Pro Tools until after I complete a project at work that might require some past Pro Tools sessions and I have updated Audio Hijack Pro but still have kernel panics when I don't run in Safe Mode. I have no problems just leaving the computer in Safe Mode for the time being but I need the USB/Firewire ports and I need sound to work.

Thanks.

I wanted to provide a general update that might be useful for anyone else experiencing this problem. I didn't uninstall Pro Tools yet because I haven't had the time to check if that uninstall will affect saved sessions that I have not had time to transfer to my office computer. I have not had very many kernel panics (although that's probably a product of using the computer less). Instead, I started experiencing a new problem where an error box appears stating that connection to whatever programs I have open has timed out and that there is not enough space on the computer to run the programs. Usually this will list 200 +/- MB available, which is not the case. When I restart, the finder adjusts to show 11GB available. I found that when I restart but do not open Firefox, the problem does not recur (i.e., I have now run the computer for 2-3 days without this error appearing because I leave Chrome open instead of Firefox). So, I think this has something to do with Firefox, which either has to do with a Firefox update or an Apple update I did in the past few months or some combination that is causing problems. As is shown in my previous pastes/screenshots of panic reports, Firefox always appears as the program that crashed.

I don't know what to do to solve this problem, but, again, I share it in case the info. is helpful in some way. I will re-install Firefox this weekend and see if that makes a difference.
