Bluetooth isn't working

On my mac at home and at work (the one at work is running 10.6.8) I try and connect a bluetooth device (Magic Cube Epic http://www.celluon.com/products.php) and first it asks for a password to connect, which it shouldn't, then procedes to say that it cannot connect. I change it to not needing a password and it still fails to connect. However when I try to connect it to one of the brand new iMacs it connects just fine. Do I need to update anything to get it to work, or am I just plain screwed? When I try to connect a bluetooth mouse it works just fine.

Search for any plist files with celluon or epic in the name - it may have a device specific *.plist file as well.

And you made sure to force the Epic into pairing mode first, correct (pressing and holding that little button on the back until it beeps or the blue status LED starts flashing - not sure how it indicates it is in pairing mode)?
