It certainly would have been nice if Apple had simply included a message in the 7.0.3 update explanation stating that our first sync would sit on the last step (in my case 6 of 6) saying "waiting for changes to be applied" lasting from 5-10 minutes THEN every song on your phone will reload (in my case 2835).

I too interrupted the first time I tried to sync because I thought the process froze. When I played music soon thereafter, many songs were listed but wouldn't play AND when one did and you hit "forward" it would skip over 5-8 songs. Now I get it that the sync that I stopped midstream was actually reinstalling my music. Why didn't they just say so?????

In the time it's taken me to write this, 824 out of 2835 songs have reloaded. Ugh.

Well I've tried everything you guys have listed,

not a single friggen thing works

power cycling, no dice, reinstalled itunes, no dice don't have the option of restoring since i need my phone for work and the way this is going i dont trust it to work.

has anyone contacted apple about this issue?

kinda annoyed at the fact it gladly removed songs from my iphone but won't re sync them...

So annoyed, i updated my iphone5 software and now it's not syncing, didn't update the ipad mini and it's syncing fine without any issues, appears the issue is with the new IOS 7.0.3 PMO ready to change over to the S4 like everyone else I know, growing tired of these gliches they keep having 😕

Tried syncing 10 times over the last 2hours, nothings working..

Yeah so I had this issue ever since I upgraded my iPhone 5 on iOS 7 and iTunes 11.1. Then when upgrading to the iPhone 5s and iTunes 11.1.1, 11.1.2 and 7.0.3 I would have thought by now everything would be fixed. This is huge for me because I mainly use my phone with the music player and don't like the streaming apps. I wondering if people on windows are having any issues? I like to manually manage my music as we'll so I don't know if that makes a difference. I am not happy regardless because I just purchased my MacBook Pro thinking everything would sync nicely.

Listless.Charlatan does this procedure make it so that every time you sync your iphone/ipad it works? Meaning if I follow your steps once, will my iphone sync properly after that?

Or do I have to do your steps every time I want to sync?

Because if that's the case, I'd suggest sticking with the power cycle method. Shut down the iphone/ipad, restart, unlock but DO NOT START ANY APPS, and sync. It's been working for me, but I have to do this every single time I want to sync :-(

Hey Micah D.

For me it has cleared up the problem. I have synced it at least 3 times since yesterday, once to add some music, once to add some more, and a third time to add some PDFs via the new iBooks.

I reckon the problem was with layered updates etc. on either end. It's a bit annoying to restore but if you have an hour it's worth it. Can't hurt ot have a fresh copy of iOS on your device either way. Just make sure you do a backup on the cloud or - my preference - on the system. Also, it's nice to have the "Documents & Data" ON in the iCloud settings so you have a double backup of the basic good stuff. I also keep "Contacts", "Calendars", "Reminders", "Safari", "Notes", & "Find My [iPad]" ON as well.

Hope this works, let me know if it does!

I was confused by this also. The first time the phone did a sync after updating to 7.0.3 iTunes indicated it was waiting to for changes to be applied for a looong time. I thought something was wrong so I canceled the sync. I then tried syncing again, saw the same thing and decided to wait it out. Eventually I saw it copying a bunch of songs and podcasts over but it would have been a less aggravating experience if iTunes issued a warning initially letting me know that first sync may take a very long time.
