Is Mavericks making your machine run slow?

I think it would!! 2GB is lowest recommended RAM for Mavericks, although 4GB is a more realistic minimum.Personally I would not run a Mac with less than 8GB RAM with Mavericks. Max out your aching and you will find a radical improvement. Also uinstall any Security/AntiVirus or 'Cleaning'programs from your Mac as per their Developers instructions. How much spare space do you have o your HardDrive?

Thanx Pete! That's great to hear that my iMac will take 8 G.B. I currently have 86 G.B of space still available on my hard drive. do you have any suggestions, on places where I can find a good deal on RAM?

Seem to be recommended here as the best value and the most reliable. Genuine Apple RAM is very expensive.

My iMac late 2013 3.5 - GHz Intel Core i7 - 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB is running like a snail half the time. Many times, believe it or not, my system has CRASHED! I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN! I always get the rainbow circle for extended periods of time and am thinking to myself am I working on an old windows computer or what? I lose faith in Apple with each leap and bound. I also find "reinstall the OS" eerily similar to the old Dell / Microsoft support that came from a support agent (after speaking to 5 other support agents) from India or some other outsourced country.

Start your own thread with your technical details of your issue and computer specs. Tis one has been happily dead for well over a year.

And when you start a new thread, please post the EtreCheck output

The thread's been dead, but not the problem. My mac has been super slow for over a year, also ever since downloading Mavericks. Additional RAM increased the speed a bit, but hardly what it was like before Mavericks.

Not only has it been dead for over a year but it was solved for the Original Poster. You will need to start your own post with full details and preferable posting an etrecheck report so that you will receive up to date help and more attention to your issues.

Thread Jacking someone else's thread, especially one marked "Solved" is not how to get your issue addressed.

This is a user-to-user forum. All we can do is try to help you figure out what is happening on your system. Having hundreds of "Me Too" replies to a single thread does not affect Apple development, as they do not read these forums, just fellow users, and we cannot change Apple software. We just get to try and figure out what is on your system that is maybe causing your slow down. And starting your own unique thread with EtreCheck output (because we need information to work with) is the best way to make that happen.
