not yet ... but I just found out that I can no longer run 02 programs that I use every day/VFX :

- After Effects CS6

- Nuke X

I have also problems with my Aver Media AVerTV DVB-T dongle application. It's laggy and every operation, even touching a key ends in a rotating pizza. I hope they'll update it soon to work better on Mavericks.

Btw. the Maps app (new in the Dock) is still too bad and undetailed.

Question: Did someone try to reinstall Mavericks from scratch? Was it helpful concerning speed?

I am experiencing simillar problems and I do have almost simillar configuration like yours. My MBP is Mid 2007 17Inch Intel Core 2 duo 2.4 Ghz 4GB Ram and 250GB HDD. I installed Mavericks and everything is slow and it freezes at random points.

Per other posts, I checked Spotlight and yes, its attempting to index. But doesn't project any time to complete and most of the times it freezes forcing me to reboot.

I am gonna try to remove any 3rd party plugins in Spotlight library folder and try, if my mac book doesn't freeze before I delete.

No luck as of yet, except for confirmation on my MBP year of manufacture and Spotlight attempting to run and not finishing.

MBP 13inch i5 8 gigs of ram and i am getting the exact same slow down issues. Ive tried the various fixs from letting it index to running disk permissions, this did improve it slightly but it is still slow in booting and openining programs. This OS seems to be more resource heavy than ML and has alot more going on in the bacground. Sort this out Apple cos its broke...

I noticed this about installing Mavericks as a download on top of ML. Mail was ( and still is ) incredibly slow to send emails. A simple email, no attachments, can take well over 30" to send. Sending mail to my Gmail account can take well over a minute! The first time I opened Mail in Mavericks there were 136 new junk messages! Never had them before, and they didn't appear on either my iPad or iPhone. Really bizarre! It's like iCloud is not really syncing up all my devices with Mail very well.. It seemed a lot more efficient in ML.

I acted on some of the advice here, like Permission Repair, and starting in Recovery Mode, but in general my system seems OK, except for this Mail issue.

I've noticed a big improvement in cpu distribution in Logic Pro X. That's great. The other odd thing I've encountered is when opening an app for the first time it took a lot longer to launch, but after closing and reopening, the launch - time was much quicker than ML.Apps appear to launch incredibly fast: almost instantaneous in some cases.

All in all, I'm pretty happy ( have a very recent ML back up to fall back on), but there's something odd about Mail, for me. Right now, I don't think I'll wipe and reinstall. Guess it's down to a OS update....

The slow is probably due to some existing issues on your system or incompatible apps that are hogging up resources. I would suggest people who are experiencing slowdown to fire up the console and see what error messages are poping up. Things to look out for are Launchd error messages showing certain process failed to start and will be retried in x seconds. Indexing errors etc

I had the same problem, but i fixed it.

I reinstalled mavericks, and waited for spotlight to finish indexing, and after that everything was running perfectly.

After first installation everything was extremly slow. Then I shut down my imac, and then start it in recovery mode (during start up hold COMMAND + R).

From there i choose to reinstall Mavericks. That was all. It lasted for 5 hours though. 😉

I have a Late 2009 Mac Mini 2.53 ghz Core 2 320 GB with 4GB of memory. Installed Mavericks within one hour with no issues. Now my computer is really really slow. I regret upgrading. Performing simple task takes forever. Stopped using this computer because its so slow. Too slow to try to diagnosis the issues. Very frustrating. My advice is not to upgrade to Mavericks to save you time and energy.

Boot into Safe Mode and see if you see the same slowness.

I have a 4 month old MBA which used to run smoothly and the battery lasted for about 12 hours with brightness set at 50% and using it for spotify and surfing the web. No after a CLEAN install of Mavericks I only get about 6-7 hours out of it. I see that the indexing is taking forever (been indexing for 2-3 days now!!) and so I tried a manual rebuild of the indexing, which again isnt going anywhere. Im really tired of clean installs because of the backup I have to do each time. Do any of you have some kind of solution?

2011 iMac bad performance on mavericks 😟

I thought I was working on a smooth and the fastest Imac 27 inch machine. And an upgrade to Mavericks would make it perform even better. NOT!

It slowed down my Mac

But even worse is opening Photoshop CC, it takes over ten minutes and while it's open no other programs are working smoothly anymore.

And the worst, I have to present 12 images by tommorrow for a magazine, bye bye income. Thank you Apple

All was fine but after the upgrade all is a disaster

Did all the updates, did a java update, did install new drivers for the Wacom, unchecked the graphic accelerator in PS,...nothing worked.

Did anybody else find the solution with a reinstall of Mavericks?
