iPhoto library upgrader

Hi, I had iPhoto '08 (7.x) and I purchased the latest iPhoto '11(9.5). When I launched it, it asked that I download "iPhoto Library Upgrader" because my library needed to be prepared for the upgrade. I followed to link to download "iPhoto library upgrader 1.1" that is said to upgrade iPhoto 7 library. Once that tool downloaded it notes that it is only version 1.0 and that it won't update my library because it is superior than version 5. So basically I can't open iPhoto no more, does someone have a solution?

Thanks

There's been an error on the downloads page and the old upgrader is linked. I'll send a bug reprot to the Hosts of this forum so they can contact those in change of that website.

Yes, I am running Mavericks and I have iPhoto 9.5. I paid for an upgrade that is not working.

When I click iPhoto icon 9.5 I get this response:

To open your library with this version of iPhoto, it first needs to be prepared.

Then if I follow the advice I get the same response as reported above on Nov 15, 2013 7:32 AM

There is a workaround to get you up and running with your photos but you will lose your organizational efforts. However, your current library will be untouched so you can continue to try to find a solution:

Starting over from scratch with new library

Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:

1. Open the library package like this.

User uploaded file

2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.

3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.

User uploaded file

This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.

Note: your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
