Where is podcast functionality in GarageBand 10.0.0?

In the previous versions, one of your options for a new project was a Podcast, but the only options available are musical instruments. And even if I create an empty project, I don't have the Podcast "Channel" available to add to my project for chapter marks and artwork.

Has Podcast creation been completely removed from GarageBand?

Do I need to find a whole new application to do the podcasts with images or is there anyway around it?

If you did not uninstall GarageBand 6.0.5, it will still be in your Applications folder. The GB10 installer moved it to a subfolder of Applications, and you can still use it, even with GarageBand 10 installed.

GarageBand 6.0.5 is a major upgrade from GB 3.5, not a free update. You need a paid upgrade to GarageBand 6.0.5. The GarageBand downloads from Apple's Support page are all updates, that require a full version to be installed. The only way to get a full version of GarageBand '11 are the boxed retail versions of iLife '11 (from Amazon or eBay). That will let you install an early GarageBand '11 version and you can update it from Apple's Support page to GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5. Only, it is a lot of money to buy an earlier version. The advantage of buying an iLife installer would be, that it is the last chance ever to get the iLIfe sound Effect loops and the other iLife apps - iDVD and iWeb. They have been discontinued as well, and there are currently no replacement for them - no Apple.apps to make a webpage or burn a video DVD.

It's pretty weak sauce that Apple felt the need to remove an entire feature from one of their own apps. There seems to be a real short fall around Podcast making in general. Some one needs to make an all-in podcast applications.

My girlfriend's laptop has GB 6 so I managed to export my .m4a there with the enhancements.

In was also able to use Podcast Maker on my now laptop as that still has Snow Leopard on. I will but Feeder though as that seems more geared for iTunes.

Thanks for your informed replies Léoine. Tis very nice to know folks out there just like to help others. 🙂
