Can't link text boxes anymore

Just upgraded to the new Pages and can't find a way to link text boxes anymore like is described here:

http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/pages-linking-text-boxes

Am I missing something, or is it really not possible anymore?

Yep. I cannot understand this either. Linking text boxes is a major time saver for me when rebranding documents. Why would Apple get rid of this?

Would realy like to know if there is a way to get this feature back.

Update: Just discovered that on a new document you can create two text boxes, group them together using unite under the arrange tab and the text will flow from one to another. But this doesn't seem to work for my existing documents.

That's a long winded way around it. Why not just keep linking text boxes? So much easier and intuative.

This is driving me nutz... I'm attempting to do exactly what you suggestted and it works for maybe four or five text box copy and past, but then suddenly the new document start going berzerk, move the mouse and the pages start scrolling at light speed to arbitrary pages and nothing you can do can get the program under control. I then save and quit. I reopen and it is stable for maybe three of rour more copy/past (and it does, in fact, work like a word processor with all the pages connected like a normal document), and then it goes berserk again! Mouse movements create wild scrolls up and down, or click on a page and it goes to pages anywhere in the document, but not where you want it to go.

In short, I''m able to copy past maybe 3 to 5 text boxes in 09 and past to 5 (which itself is taking forever) and then the new project goes crazy, requiring a shutdown. I have no idea how stable this new project will be once I get all 170 pages copied over.

Anyone else doing this and have the same issues? I'm operation OS X 10.9 on a Mac Mini.

BTW, ver 4.3 should still be on your system. Export the files you aLready opened w version 5 to 09 format (files/export) then delete ver five from your system. Version 4.3 should still be in iwork 09 folder in applications. You might need to turn off auto update to be sure the App Store doesn't silently overwrite with the new, crippled release.

This is beyond frustrating. I'm frustrated with a lot of things with this latest upgrade, but this is one of the biggies with Pages. This makes no sense to me. Do they want us to "go back" to Word and Publisher. Both of those are much more user friendly at this point. Pages was just starting to make sense to me and I was actually beginning to like it. This omission has completely changed the time it takes for me to do my newsletter among other things. Thanks for nothing Apple.

I want to add my voice, too, to the plea PLEASE BRING BACK LINKING TEXT BOXES ACROSS PAGES. Without this feature Pages is almost useless for me.

I've spent a lot of time this morning trying to make Pages 5.0 work for me. There is much to like. So if the linked text boxes feature plus the ability to add alignment guides were brought back, I would be happy.

Otherwise, I will sadly have to go elsewhere.

Of course, there is always the possibility that our desires are already in the pipeline. But please tell us what's coming and when.

It's true, text box linking is gone. I have found, however, that you can create a text box and in the Layout tab in the inspector on the right, you can choose how many columns you would like the text box to have. Fortunately, even though the formarly linked text boxes cannot link anymore, the text still appears properly in previously created documents.
