Recovery partition on OS X Mavericks!

Hey guys,

So i downloaded the mavericks installer from the app store today, and created a usb bootable pen drive containing mavericks! I did a clean install from the pen drive, but now i'm unable to find a recovery partition on boot! Just my mac hd! I can access recovery features such as "recover through time machine" from the USB pen drive, and ofcourse also install os x mavericks normally from the pen drive...

What have i done wrong? Why is there no longer a recovery partition?

PS: I followed a guide on macrumours on how to created the "Base system dmg" bootable, thats how i was able to make a bootable mavericks usb pen drive!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

I didn't mean most people on here! I read comments on other websites such as Macworld, maxrumours, and osxdaily that some people have reported weird glitches when upgrading, but to be honest none so far complained from an upgrade from mountain lion or lion to mavericks! So you might be right!

I had some weird glitches in safari and some force closes but nothing major! Also AVAST internet security said it was incompatible with mavericks when I went with the upgrading method, and was subsequently moved to the "incompatible software" folder in root!

This didn't happen when I did a fresh install! I installed avast normally, safari is glitch free (so far)! I don't know it depends from user to user I guess...

I haven't ever found a use for AV software. From reading here, it only seems to cause problems, not solve them.

I'm confused.

Did you have a 8GB or larger USB?

Was it formatted HFS+?

Was the boot sector set to GUID?

Do you have the "install OSX Mavericks.app" in the Applications folder?

Is your USB titled "untitled"?

Finally, did you type the command correctly

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction

Yes to all of that.

I can only suspect your download of Mavericks is corrupt somehow. Have you tried to install it by simply running the installer on an empty partition? How is your Mac setup? How many drives, do you have space to test the installer app? Note, before testing it make a copy somewhere. The installer can get deleted when run.

I followed a different method to create a bootable USB Mavericks installer.

It's at this link:

http://osxdaily.com/2013/06/12/make-boot-os-x-mavericks-usb-install-drive/

It's a multi-step procedure, but if you follow the instructions to the letter, it definitely works. And it definitely created a Recovery partition.

Now, if Mavericks weren't as buggy as a dumpster full of rotting food. . .but that's an entirely separate issue.
