Yeah, it really sin't much. But it is an indication of their intent- especially if you can read between the lines. For those who can't, let me translate:

"We recognize that our recent release has upset a bunch of our users. I think you are right enteecee. Like I said earlier, I think they were probably trying to see what features were most missed before adding them all back in.

On the other hand, the complete inability to access photos from anywhere other than iPhoto is a bit ridiculous, as well as a few of the other obvious mistakes in choosing what to leave out, or at least what not to include.

And this we see the real motivation behind the inciteful speech - promoting your own site. Nice.

Not sure what your psychologizing is all about, but if the mirror philosophy is accurate, I'd guess you see the same antagonistic self serving contrarian in everyone else as you see in yourself. I'm not being spiteful. I just don't like your attitude. You started this thread under the guise of collecting changes, and then fired everyone up to bash on Apple (and anyone who liked the new pages, or tried to reassure people that the setbacks were temporary) and then you direct people away from the forum toward your own site. I don't know what you get out of it. Ego boost? Click bait for future prospects? Maybe you're just hoping for another tshirt? It doesn't matter. You see yourself as the high respondent to Apple's support brief, ("Peter Breis has responded" - as if) and you're desperately trying to get people to follow you on your crusade. I'm just trying to get people to calm down and be polite. I get satisfaction from that alone.

See, the thing is, you're getting in the way of the bigger picture by nitpicking about changes to a new version, an X.0 version of a rewritten piece of software that is not forced on anyone (despite your claims to the contrary), does no permanent damage to data (despite your claims to the contrary), is not an intentional sabotage (despite your claims to the contrary) and was just a temporary loss of features (despite your claims to the contrary). Why did you make those claims, without evidence and surely without even personal knowledge SINCE YOU HADNT EVEN USED THE SOFTWARE AT THE TIME? I don't know. What do you get out of it? I don't know. But you must have some motive, otherwise you wouldn't be here.

Now I'm sure you'll have some witty divergent response that completely eschews the point, but why not try reading twice so you don't miss anything. The facts are plain as day to me. You're redirecting people away from the site for your own benefit, whatever that is. That alone breaks the rules. It paints a pretty seedy picture, and explains why you kept firing people up against the new version before you even saw it.

Thanks to everyone who explored to discover the changes, shared them, and to all who have passed feedback on to Apple. I look forward to receiving help when I need it in the future, and when I can, offer help to others.

Uh, I did answer the question, on the other thread where you asked it again. I don't sit in front of my computer with baited fingers all day, so sorry I was napping when you asked the first time. It's really amusing how you felt you could answer the question for me though. Speaks volumes.

Oh, and excuse me, but it was I who pointed out that Versions works without Time Machine, thus saving the data people thought was permanently gone. I believe I have helped plenty, if for no other reason than to be a force against the firey chaotic cries of desperation you threw gasoline on so haphazardly.

I look forward to the three steps forward with complete cross platform integration. I love when people have the guts to step back and look at the big picture. It shows vision. I applaud all those who have the forsight to stick with it and surf the wave. Being stuck in the past is so Microsoft. I'm using 4.3 and 5 concurrently and really love the new possibilities (and really miss what's missing). I'm providing feedback and exploring all the new possibilities. Pages for iOS is really amazing. And I see the idea behind Pages 5 for Mac. It's a rough start but it's a great new direction. Thanks to all those who were polite and mature in this discussion, despite the FUD and misdirection.

I miss the Search pane, when you enter a search word, you get the overview of all matches in the left pane. Somebody found this functionality, seems to be gone with Pages for Mavericks.

I'm with you here robogobo, though I really would have appreciated advance warning from Apple.

My workflow is now - "iCloud for Pages 5, iMac for Pages 4" and never the two shall meet which keeps it safe and simple as long as I'm mindful of double-clicking on documents! I've moved my complex 4.3 documents from iCloud into a folder on my iMac. I've also now been able to move some Mac-only Numbers spreadsheets onto iCloud so I don't have to be at home to edit them which is really handy for me. At the moment of course, the previous iWork is working just fine on Mavericks.

Pages for iOS is amazing and can be used to produce worthwhile documents despite what some here think. Of course it can't produce the complex documents which OS X Pages can but then that's iOS for you. Mail, Safari and OmniFocus on my iPad have nowhere near the power and flexibility of the full versions on my iMac but having them with me when I'm out is so useful that it's a trade-off that I'm willing to accept.

When Apple have ploughed through all 73 pages on here, and read all the feedback sent to them and pored over various Mac web sites and articles they will know the level of disquiet (as they now realise) and get their fingers out and, we trust, will return iWork to something close to feature parity with the previous versions. We're doing our best and the rest is up to Apple.

THAT is exactly why the complaints should be placed - prominently - elsewhere. Possibly in a place where they pose a bigger PR problem to Apple than here, where their mods and trolls can bury any unpleasantness.
