Problem scrolling in WebBrowser after Mavericks upgrade?

Hi all,

OS X 10.9 Recently installed (Mavericks)

Is anybody having troubles scrolling and navigating using the trackpad on Chrome browser after downloading Mavericks?

If so, what will be a way of fixing this issue, because is rendering Chrome innoperable?

For Chrome, I tried a temporary solution which is the following:

  • I created a new tab and typed chrome://flags/
  • Then clicked Enable on "Enable touch eventsMac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS"

But this solution is temporarly and the issue persists.

Note: Safari works with no issue as other native applications.

Edit 1: Scrolling up-down works until one swipes to switch between previous or following webpages.

Go to System Preferences and click trackpad. Under trackpad select more gestures, and deselect the option swipe between pages.

It fixed that bug for me.

There is now a new update avaliable that appears to be dedicated to this bug

- MacBook Pro Retina EFI Update v1.3 - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1704

I've not applied the update but will within the hour... I'm hoping this fixes it; all of the other suggestions / fixes havn't really helped and all feel a touch hacky.

3 finger swipe, no -I want to use what I do everywhere else!

My suggestion, of using BTT, it's okay but it not the same either visually or feel and can be too sensitive.

As for reboots, they're just pointless... Quite aside of not wating to restart all my services, it only reccours within moments of restarting and if you wait and not reboot the scroll & swipe starts to work again.

Greetings,

I have an iMac 10,1 with OS X Mavericks installed for several weeks now.

But the scrolling problem appeared only today.

While Safari and Firefox present scroll problems, usually after trying any two-finger gesture on the mouse, Thunderbird apparently is immune... strange.

Additionally, a double-finger double-tap on the mouse does not call up Mission Control anymore. ^up and the rest of the ^ commands work.

Neither the "enable scroll bars always" nor the "disable two-finger swipe" suggestions worked.

Obviously the Retina MBP update solution does not apply in my set-up either.

Closing and reopening the webbrowsers works, until I (accidently) use a two-finger gesture.

@yauri - Yep the EFI Update for MBP Retina Has deffo fixed my problem.

As for VMWare Fusion (6.0.1), I have it installed and running almost 100% of the time. No Parralels however.

Just for clarification, I discovered the gesture / scroll issues within 10mins of first using my new MBP, this was prior to installing Fusion, or anything else for that matter.

From Apple support:

Close all applications, if you want, you may do so by pressing cmd + alt + esc and selecting each application and clicking on the "Force Quit".
Then you have to disconnect all external devices (USB, Firewire, etc ...) and any network cables.
Then you have to disable the Wi-Fi connection.
Then must click the Go button, located next to the Finder on the top bar.
Click on "Computer".
Then in the window that opens has to click on "Library".
Now you have to locate the folder Preferences> SystemConfiguration and open it.
Then you have to empty the contents of that folder. If you want you can make a copy first on the desktop.
Then you have to restart your Mac and immediately after the black screen reboot must press this key combination: cmd + alt + P + R, and hold them until they hear the "dong" of the start three times in a row.
After that you can safely release.
And everything should go ok 😉
