Mavericks Mail App and Gmail folders

I have installed Mavericks on my MBA. Now in the mail app, when I drag messages from the inbox to a gmail folder, they leave the inbox. But if I click off of the inbox and then click back on it - they reappear in the inbox.

Anyone else having this problem?

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Good point. I forgot about it because I don't want anything in "All Mail" because I want anything I delete to actually be deleted. I don't get the impression Google wants that.

If you are deleting everying and you don't have mail in the all mail folder in gmail then that is why you don't have issues...

No, there is stuff there that I keep. It just doesn't show up on my IMAP devices. And, the new stuff that comes iin is labeled all mail until I trash it or move it.

Not everybody was having problems with Gmail and Mail, besides the crappy IMAP implementation that Google uses.

Well after more fiddling, I'm convinced it is the way that Apple Mail renders the IMAP labels and folders. As a test I loaded MS Outlook 2011 (version 14.3.9) on my Mac. It rendered the IMAP folders exactly how they are on the Gmail website, and exactly how they are on my iPhone (which is what I was expecting). This is the exact same Mac I use Apple Mail with and the exact same IMAP settings on Gmail's website.

However, I'm sticking with Apple Mail due to its integration with the O/S and iCloud, etc. In the interim I'll just move stuff to my "starred" folder via my phone. Not a dealbreaker but pretty annoying.

To review and to put it as simply as possible: My IMAP folders on Apple Mail are not displaying or functioning the same way that they did before Mavericks, or the way they appear on gmail.com or my iPhone (iOS7).

Good luck to all with the solutions presented. I'm going to provide Apple direct feedback via the mail application tonight and keep my fingers crossed for a fix sooner than later.

Well, I didn't have any problems with my gmail - either landing on my iMac or syncing with iPad.

Now I do - since 10.9.1. gmail not being retrieved on iMac by Apple Mail.

EDIT: went back to prefs for mail - deleted gmail - closed mail and reopened - added gmail and now it seems to be working, again. Last 15 emails [the same number that had dropped overnight in iOS] had dropped. Though checked as read. Though I'd done that on my iPad and it may have carried over.

The good news? While I was looking at that, a new gmail from WordPress dropped; so, things appear to have resumed.

I have been having the same problem but I may have stumbled on the fix. Previously I tried deleting my Google account in Mac Mail and then adding a new Google account - which had the same problems as before.

This time however I deleted my Google account, restarted Mac Mail, then added another account. This time I chose to add "Other Mail Account" - NOT a Google account. I entered my Gmail address and password in the box that opened and a new account was then added to my MacMail email accounts.

This time it was called "Gmail" and not "Google". It has all my same Gmail folders and emails as before, and so far it is working100%

I tried it all again yesterday and was running into more problems. For example:

1. Unread mail would appear in the Archives section (where it is labeled "All Mail") for Gmail accounts. But the mail would not appear in the account's Inbox? Why nto?

2. Even though I have the account checked to "only send from this SMTP server" it sent email from a completely different, non-GMAIL SMTP server for another account! That should never happen. It could cause very awkward situations.

Airmail has its own quirky bugs.

Right now I don't know what to do anymore. I actually have mutliple tabs open in my browser and am using Gmail directly.

Basically Mail seems horribly broken no matter what I do. Even deleting and recreating accounts doesn't help with the above problems.
