Screensaver is not working in OS X Mavericks

Installed OS X Mavericks and now my screensaver will not activate at the scheduled time. It just does not activate...is there a fix or will I have to wait for an update?

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Nevermind...I cleaned the System Cache and that fixed it.

Dancing Jay, you rock! After over half a year of Apple doing nothing to address and correct the issue, your idea seems to work. I left my screen on desktop, with no other window open (when it would always never go to screensaver prior), and, yep - it went to screensaver!

Good job, and thank you for the tip! Hopefully this one sticks and continues to work.

All the best to you,

I just loaded MAvericks from Lion a few days ago and everything is great except for the screensaver as everyone in this thread is stating.

Mine will come on sometimes-othertimes it will not. I still cannot screen save my entire aperture library- ( it just reads loading photos forever and never changes). I have found that I can access and screen save (when it works)clicking on individual apeture folders (but not the whole library as I could on Lion.). I have read that there are the same probelems when trying to screen save iphoto as well.. Regardless, I cannot get the saver to work for even the default "lightning" or any other preinstalled saver. . I have changed settings - times- etc. No screen saver will come on. Yesterday- after all day of no SS- it came on at night after shutting down and rebotting..This morning it was not on and then on again later with no reboot.

What I have been doing in the mean time is established all hot corners to activate and told the family when done using to slide the mouse to the corners to activiate the screen saver, otherwise the SS may never come on. This seemed to at least work so I won't get burn in the sceen. If we can all rememeber to do this when we are not used to doing it.

I read that DAncing JAy solved the problem by Restart or power on your machine while holding Opt+CMD+P+R and only release them after the 2nd time the start sound plays. HAs this solved the SS problems? Did it solve anyones aperture or iphoto probs as well with SS? Does resettting the PRAM risk causing another probelm on the imac. Thanks!

probably not the same cause of problem with others here but i had my screensaver and sleep not working on my MBP with Mavericks installed, and figured out that it was caused by Google Chrome where there's a webpage with moving background images preventing screensaver and sleep from kicking in in Mavericks.

not sure if it's a Mavericks problem or Chrome problem, anyway right after i close that webpage screensaver is working again
