Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
Scrolling seems to work fine, until I try to go to the previous webpage. After that, none of the gestures work. Any help is appreciated.

Well dangit, I spoke too soon. Two weeks ago I posted that UNchecking the "Displays Have Separate Spaces" box in "Mission Control preferences" window fixed the broken multitouch gestures. However, they stopped working again. So just on a whim, I went in and RE-checked the box. Logged out and logged back in and they are now working again. So it appears that there is something about CHANGING THE PREFERENCE, rather than whether it's checked or UNchecked. Confounding.

Did you try to turn (your mouse) off and on again?
Nevertheless it worked for me :-)
I was having problems with trackpad gestures in clamshell mode so I opened the lid of my MBA, tried some gestures which worked, and then closed the lid.
Everything was fixed.
Other than simple page scrolling or pointing, the multi-finger gestures did not work.
It was corrected by restarting the trackpad with the power button on the trackpad.
My trackpad gestures have not been working correctly ever since I upgraded to Mavericks
