unable to get network users working in server 3

After upgrading to Mavericks and OS X server 3 I've been unable to log into my network accounts from any of my client machines (all also upgraded to Mavericks). The Network Account Server is showing as green on the clients and I don't get any warnings at the login screen but trying to log into any accounts results in the failed attempt "shake" of the password box.

I'm now on a fresh install of Mavericks on the server with some test accounts set up and I'm still not able to log in from any of my clients. I can however access any share points I set up. Not really sure what I'm doing wrong here.

I wish I could answer the last question easily, but living in Greece, I really do not know the answer. I hope I do, but sometimes .... I am not that sure.

What I do not understand is why I can see my server hard disk using SMB and I can't see it using AFP?? Has Apple started being more Microsoft, than Microsoft itself?!?!!?

Thanks for your time answering my question Sir, sincerely appreciated!

After spending 13 hours yesterday with the newest version (3.2.1) of this sad piece of junk, I can report to you that it is still as broken as ever, and just to add insult to the injury, postgres (and hence your mail server) is also broken. The reason, it turns out, is that they updated the postgres binary to a more recent one, and there is a typo in the some directory location:

unix_socket_directory vs. unix_socket_directories

More information here: Server 3.2.1 (10.9.5) – Postgres won't start https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6541243

I thought I'd have another go with latest version (as I've maintained Mountain Server as I had given up with Maverick Server)

Re-installed 10.9 on Macbook Air with all the latest updates - when through the usual process but no matter, I cannot get it work - still does the shake - tried various suggestions (as before) on this forum.

So please please please can someone tell me this has been fixed in Yosemite Server ????????

HURRAH!

Happy to report this, for me, has been resolved in Yosemite!!!!!

1st - I tested on MBA - fresh install of Yosemite & Server; Open Directory On, and bingo I could sign in from about client (at this point Mavericks) just fine.

2nd - Installed Yosemite & Server on Mac Mini (which was Mountain Lion, as Mavericks never worked for) and again, no issues logging from either yosemite or maverick clients.

Hope that helps everyone in the forum and we can put this issue to bet.

Good luck guys,

Thanks

Rob

I upgraded a Mini server running Mountain Lion today using Yosemite and Server 4, network users cannot log in (everything else, web page, wikis, messages server, contacts, calendar all work). To make things worse, after booting off my fresh bootable back up, users cannot log in to the replica server either. The bootable back up was working this morning to allow log ins. I am restoring the Mini from the back up, maybe I will get lucky and the users will be able to log in again. If not, I guess I need a plan to allow people to access their files on the server.
