OS X Mavericks failed to download

Guys, try to turn off the firewall before downloading.

Nothing worked for me... still getting the error message every time at 3.48 GB. I tried all your suggestions, resumed, cancelled, deleted failed partially downloaded files, started from scratch... every time it reaches the 3.48 GB point, it deals with it some time, goes backwards to 3.47 GB, then again 3.48, and it finally fails.

Any new suggestion?

Actually, my DNS configuration is still the Googles' DNS from the beginning. And now, it has just started to download again; but I think the DNS configuration is not the root of solving the problem.

So anyone tried that cure may not being success. I think what you have to do is just take your patient to wait. 🙂

If you can, try to avoid Proxies. Connect direct. That worked for me after 4 fails at the same amount of downloaded Data using a Proxy.

I tried last night, I tried this morning, I've changed DNS, I've rebooted, I've even been able to download other software off the Mac App Store...just not Mavericks...

I really wish there were more descriptive error messages.

I now have DL Maverick without changing a thing and everything is working. 😉 As I stated before, it could be a bug or who knows?

However, a friend had the same problem, then he realized that his antivirus program was blocking the download. You might have another program running that is blocking it. Can be a firewall or something else.

It works the reverse for me. By using the DNS of Google i.e. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 it actually jams the download. I can only guess that the Google DNS is over-strectched as millions would be using it right at this moment. What I did was to revert to my ISP's default DNS and the download resumes without problem.

So you might want to try this other way if the Google DNS does not work...

The only worked solution with me is following this steps:

1-open terminal, write: open $TMPDIR../C/ then a folder will appear, delete the com.apple.appstore folder.

2-open librery/ update and delete the content

3- restart your mac

4- start the download

5- as soon download start sign out from app store/ wait till download is done and enjoy installation, it dosent mater what kind of internet speed you have.

Still does not work.

Obviously this is not because apple servers are overloaded.

It gets to the exact same point (995 MB) every time, and then an error occurs.

It says to use the purchases page to try again, but Mavericks is not listed on my purchases page.

There is no firewall.

I have tried removing the proxy.

I have deleted com.apple.appstore many times.

I have gone into applications/ and clicked on the supposedly-in-progress OS X Mavericks download.

It's not because I don't have the internet.

The computer is one year old.

Yes, it is plugged in and turned on.

Apple, care a little more. You can't rest on your reputation of a former glory forever.

No, this adds nothing new to my trial.

The closest case to my issue is the section entitled "If downloading an app is interrupted" - but my internet connection is not interrupted. It always downloads to exactly 995MB and then quits. And when I go to the "purchases" page, Mavericks is not there. Mavericks is only on the "updates" page, and there is a small red "an error has occured" message. When I try again, it fails immediately.

I wouldn't care that much, but this is a classroom computer and I hope that the update will include airdrop capabilities, and my students will be able to airdrop assignments to me quickly and easily.

I think your issue is to do with BT. Are you using a BT Business Hub, a 2-Wire hub 2700 or 2701?

This has a known issue about stopping at 995MB If you can workaround by resuming the download between 995MB and 1.05 GB using a different ISP (say a mobile tether, or someone's free network) then once you are beyond 995 the block is bypassed and you can go back to your original BT Router/hub. Google and put in 995 and BT Hub and you'll hear the stories of others. Just a hunch.

I have tried to download mavericks ever since it showed up in my app store... with WIFI I got anywhere from 300 mb to 900 mb before it failed... I tried everything suggested here and even went and purchased a thunderbolt ethernet connector... it only makes it fail faster now. I've reached around 3 gigs max..... I think this is an apple server problem, we shouldnt even bother trying until they've fixed it. Buti why the **** does it take them so long?

I have to add that I never had a problem with it stopping at exactly 995 mb like some people, and my ISP does not have any limits or caps at 1 gig..... I dont kmow what kind of country you guys live in but in my country they don't limit people like that........

Nothing is certain but death and taxes. However, I am pretty sure the problem has nothing to do with the Apple servers and if you have dowloaded large files before, then your IP and internet conecction are not the problem. Either some program, antivirus or firewall is blocking the DL, you need to make more space in your computer or etc... I finalley downloaded Mavericks to my Mac Book Air with OS Lion using this procedure:

- Open App Store and click "Check for Unfinished Downloads" in the "Store" menu.

- Then go to "Purchases" in the same "Store" menu; you should see Mavericks in the first line.

- Click "Sign Out" in the same "Store" menu before clicking "Download" Mavericks in the Purchases window.

- Then click Mavericks to the left of the just clicked "Download". You should see the word Downloading in the bar under the Mavericks app icon.

- The Download started. It takes a couple hours to complete the 5 Gb, and another hour to complete the installation.

- The downloading may be monitored with the "Activity Monitor.app" in the Utilities folder in Applications.

Selecting Network, it shows full activity, and the data received increases.
