OS X Mavericks failed to download

HI, did you fix this problem?, I have the same, and it get stuck at 986 MB,

My Maverick download failed several times, as the file is c5gb and I have a slow broadband connection I didn't want to sit watching the progress bar for several hours and so I didn't see anything or spot when it stopped.

I had turned off any energy saving settings and my timemachine in case they were interrupting the download process. My firewall is ON.

I had previouslly used disk utility (as recommended) to repair any permission errors (which there were loads).

On one of the occasions it failed, I was there when a message popped up something like "do you want to quit all applications". Thus I firgured something was trying to close things down.

I read somewhere else about preventing SLEEP kicking in using a terminal command called <pmset>.

So I went into the terminal app and at the prompt typed

<pmset noidle>

Then restarted the download from the app store. The download process then worked in one go, albeit taking about 4-5 hrs. Then another one hour or so for the actual installation.

Hello DobaKung aka Nathan in Thailand? I want you to learn that your solution did _not_ work with me.

In System Preferences, Network, Advanced, DNS I _put_ www.google.com as my _lone_ Search Domain. [I was hoping that this would work. :-) ]

But after, I saw that same, pesky, tired message: "Your request is temporarily unable to be processed. / Please try again later. [ & later & later & Later … try Never. Harumph! :-( ]

Because of this trouble with even _getting_ Mavericks, I will feel happy with using Mountain Lion. :-)

I feel _resigned_ to buying a new iMac with Mavericks installed already. Today my iMac is _almost_ 3-years old. [About this Mac, then More Info … lists its "brthday" as mid-2011.]

Just why I cannot get Mavericks on the Internet _may_ not matter. [Always now I see this: "Your request is temporarily unable to be processed. / Please try again later." How irritating. :-( ]

One thing about-which I'm thinking is to Partition my 486.96 GB Macintosh HD. Then, I could keep Mac OS X v10.8.5 on _one_ partition _&_ install Mavericks on a _second_ partition.

I had the exact same problem, though I suspect for different reasons.

It was clear from network traffic analysis that the problem did not involve timeouts or DNS in my case. During a number of the attempts the download would finish but then fail during install, after deleting the apparently corrupted install image I would attempt to redownload but then would get download failures.

The solution after some thinking turned out to be related to FileVault. My normal user account uses FileVault.

I created a secondary admin account that did not have FileVault turned on. Logged in. Downloaded Mavericks and then applied the update all on the first try with no problems. I then logged into my normal FileVault protected account and deleted the temporary admin account.

When I go to the site and press "Upgrade" and it opens Apple Store my issue with downloads happen.

I have found that if I close out Safari and the Apple store that was open, then reopen store and search the download then happens.

Worked for me.

I was having the same trouble. Turns out it was my energy saver setting, which was set to put the machine to sleep after three hours. The download was taking around 14 hours. Every now and then I'd check in on it, which would reset the three hour timer. After 8 hours I'd figure things were going well and stop monitoring... and the machine would sleep... and cause the failure. Go to system preferences and check your energy saver settings. If it's anything other than "never" that may be your problem.

Perfect! Works also fine with OS X Yosemite 10.10.3. That's the solution I was looking for.
