Magic Mouse and OS X Mavericks

Hello,

I've just installed OS X Mavericks (Final version) and my Magic Mouse is not working correctly.

It was working good but now I can't find the mouse with my Mac and I can't deactivate bluetooth.

Is there any problem with BT and Mavericks?

Thanks!

So glad I found this thread. I upgraded to Mavericks and have had bluetooth issues every day since. Issues included Magic Mouse erratic behavior (frequent disconnects, connected but no response) and garbled audio through bluetooth headsets. All I did today was delete com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and that seems to have resolved all my issues...I didn't even reboot my machine (mid-2010 MacBook Pro.)

I am looking for two files mentioned in the following post in this thread:

User uploaded file

My purpose is to delete these two files to try and cure my mouse problem, which Abenedict said solved his problem. Another post on another thread also mentioned these two files.

At my Internal System HD > Users > [User name] > Library

I have now found:

User uploaded file

The two bottom ones are in the Library folder. The top one is in a sub-folder (of the Library folder) called "MyHost".

These might be the ones that Abenedict and another were referring to (perhaps they were thinking of Mountain Lion). If deleting the first two of these in Mavericks might cure my mouse problem, I am willing to take the risk. If it fails, I can return on my recent bootable backup clone.

My question now is: is it safe to delete a .plist file in Mavericks, because the OS will create a new one after a restart?

SteveKir,

There is a preferences folder for each user as well as one for the whole system. The one for the whole system is located and /Library/Preferences. This library folder is on the root of your hard drive. The hard drive is commonly called Macintosh HD. The library file in the user folder is refered to in shorthand as ~/Library/Preferences The tilde ~ means users home folder. The similarity is confusing for new users. All items in these folders are hidden from searchs to varying degrees so spotlight will not find the bluetooth file in /Library/Preferences.

But the folder is not hidden and you can navigate to it and find the file alphabetically.

You can safely delete these bluetooth plist files without worry that your system will not boot. It might not talk to your mouse but it will boot. You can read what files I deleted in an earlier post in this thread.

Have tried all these fixes, including reinstalling mavericks and changing mice, but the problem persists.

apple if you listening can you up date the OS to get rid of this very annoying bug, am having to use a £2 dell mouse that works better than your £50 magic mouse...... speaks volumes.

There is some evidence that Apple know about this bug. However, indications are that Apple will not correct it. But if you think it would help, tell Apple:

I've got a 4 month old late-2013 27" iMac running Mavericks and the mm is incredibly slow, even with tracking set all the way up to the fastest, the mm sporadically begins to slow to the point where I'm dragging it across the screen and it once even slowed to a temporary stop. Reboots help for a while, or it will go several hours without an incident, then suddenly. All the other fixes haven't worked. Apple Support has been useless and clueless about this issue recommending that I need a new logic board despite all tests showing no hardware issues. I haven't deleted any plist since Support keeps telling me that it's a last ditch move and not to try it, weird huh? I demanded that Apple replace the iMac since it's just 4 months old but they're dragging their feet about it so no telling if customer service will approve the replacement or not, but who knows? This may be present on the replacement too. Regardless, this is beyond frustrating for a top of the line iMac.
