Wifi Greyed out with exclamation mark, but wifi still works !! after Mavericks upgrade.

After updateing to Mavericks i noticed my Wifi is greyed out with and exclamation saying ALERT: No internet. Funny thing is i can connect and have full conectivity. After running the WIFI diognostic tool, the result was my internet is fine and working properly the Wifi still remains Grey with an Exclamation Mark. Any Advice would be appreciated.

Try restarting your Mac.

Similar issue happened with Snow Leoaprd > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3611

Open AirPort Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities

Select the base station then click Edit

Select the Wireless tab.

Type in the Wi-Fi password then type in again to Verify then click Update.

I did what wifiguru said with the plists, i simply went to the files then my desktop had a zip folder that said wifidiagnostics :s can anyone tell me what that means or what has happened ? Then i backed up the files on my hardeove and deleted them (yes i know this is wrong) so when it didnt do anything i put them back. This should all be okay now right ? Except i still dont know what that zip folder is :S it vontains the link to go to system preferences as well as other files :S help anyone ??

So I'm curious ...

I did not follow this portion of the instructions because I could not figure out fast enough how to back up the file and am simply impatient. Crossing my fingers, I copied the two files, saved them to an erroneous folder, deleted them and restarted.

The restart went fine, the exclamation point was gone, but now I've noticed some other things ...

- the name of my computer has reverted to Macbook Pro in finder

- my phone just told me that my keychain was reset by another device

Before I go on with life and adjust these few things, I'm wondering - have I done something wrong?

Should I put the old "preferences" file back in the system configuration folder? See if the exclamation point (that was seemingly causing no issue to begin with) comes back?

etc, etc, etc

Thanks!
