MAIL QUIT UNEXPECTEDLY WITH NEW OS X Mavericks

I have just updated to OS X Mavericks and encountered the same umpleasan proble. As I attempt to open the Mail App. it quits. Get the "mail quit unexpectedely warning" ans same specifications as repoted by Accenturo.

At this stage this impossible to use mail - very annoing. Please advive.

Same with my 6 week old Mac Book Air. Very disagreeable!

I have the same problem.

Same here mail starts downloads mails then i try to open one & boom the app crashes.....

But on the other hand..... when i open my guest accound then everything works fine... whats wrong????

everyont go into terminal & try to write this one...

defaults delete com.apple.mail ColorQuoterColorList

then restart & open the app again...!

This doesn't work for me. I tried copying and pasting that and it just says:

Domain (com.apple.mail) not found.

Defaults have not been changed.

I too had the "mail quitting unexectedly" issue. Didn't know how to try the colorquotercolorlist fix, so called Apple Help. I told them what I'd been reading here....the last tech tried everything in the books and finally tried THAT. Worked. Hooray!

I triedf the "defaults delete com.apple.mail ColorQuoterColorList" suggestion. It worked once, but Mail crashed again, and now terminal shows domain (con.apple.mail) not found, and Domain not changed. There must be a bettder fix.

Terminal is a program included with all versions of Mac OS X. It is located in the Utilities Folder within the Applications Folder. The easiest way to find it is to click on "Launchpad" then type "Terminal" in the search box at the top of the page.

A panel will open, simply type EXACTLY as follows:

defaults delete com.apple.mail ColorQuoterColorList

Re-open your Mail App and it should not quit.

I had the same problem upgrading to Mavericks from OS X Lion 10.7.5 and this worked first time

The terminal trick worked for me, it seems what messed it all up in the first place after upgrading to mavericks is the way my emails where sorted by color (rules). I noticed my home mavericks iMac was working just fine, just my work iMac wouldn't. Thank you very much.
