free upgrade to aperture v3.5 from v3.4.5 ?
According to the App Store upgrading Aperture from V3.4.5 to V3.5 is going to cost £54.99.
I thought from all that I had read on other Mac websites that this was a free upgrade?

It looks like iLife is also having a similar issue with CD installed apps. On MacRumors, they posted a work-around. Not sure it it works for Aperture, but I assume it would. Basically, it's noting to log out of your current user account and into a different user account and then back again. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1657954
Here are the directions on what to do.
1.Go to system preferences. 2.Open up User and Groups. 3.Unlock the lock. 4. Press Plus sign. 5.Create a new account and put TEST in the Full Name area. Change new account to an Administrator. Don't put anything else in. Hit Create User. 6. Log out of your account and then log in to the new TEST account. 7. Go to software update where the Apple is on the top left. You will now see iPhoto and iMovie. 8.You have to install Garageband separately and it does install separately then older Garageband. You can keep both installed. 8. Log out of the TEST account and log into your account. Delete the TEST account, and you are all done. Now you will have all new installed.
Greetings. This will be my first post on this forum.
After changing the system language in OS X Maverics from swedish to english, the Aperture 3.5 update suddenly appeared for me in the Mac App Store.
Great! It worked also from Italian! Now I can upgrade both aperture and iwork. Thanks!!
Alessandro
Same here! Changing the system language to english, than reboot, and in the app store search for Aperture. The price will be change to Update, and voila!
Also works by iWorks!

I tried changing the language from english ( my only language ) to Italian, restarted my mac then running software update - no joy. I also tried creating a new user TEST and logging out and back in as per another hint - no use whatsoever.
Come on Apple, put a download on your Aperture support website and stop leaving your customers to fix your problems !
Pleaes make sure:
1. You have upgraded your Mac to OS X Maverics.
2. Your System Language is English.
3. Launch Mac App Store program (Not old mac software update program)
4. Click the "Update" icon at the top right
Then you should see Aperture 3.5 update ( or any other program eligible for free upgrade )
Hope this helps.
Is Aperture 3.4.5 still installed or did it get removed when you did the upgrade to Mavericks. If Aperture is not in the system Application folder then the App Store has no way of knowing that you had it installed.
Also just to be sure you did try using Software Update and not just go to the App Store. For me it did not show in the App Store until I ran Software Update.
But the important thing is to make sure Aperture is still installed on your system in the Applications folder.
Aperture is sitting in the Main Applications folder not nested in any sub folder. On installing Mavericks, Software Update brought up several updates to install including iTunes and ran sucessfully but Aperture was not among them.
Change the language worked for me. Thank you
Robin, I suggest you contact AppleCare if the work-arounds didn't work for you. It appears the switching of languages and reinstalling worked for many.
