Well, if iCloud actually worked for this I wouldn't be so put out.

iCloud simply does not let you synch multiple email accounts from your Mac to your device like iTunes used to let you. iCloud synchs Apple iCloud email account, that's it. It lets you synch web passwords, that I'm finding fairly convenient and awesome, but I really would prefer the choices I used to have as well.

I'm not sure how many more are in the same boat on synching email accounts, but if we make enough noise (feedback) through their preferred channels, maybe they'll get the message and add back email account synching too.

The iPhone NEVER let you sync emails over a USB connection. All you could sync was email setup, and that only one time.

Your comment is pointless. I actually know what I was able to synch before, and the very quote from me you quoted clearly said "email accounts".

You're not helping trying to nitpick away very real concerns.

Don't automatically assume people are idiots. We know what we're talking about. If some people accidently say the word "emails" instead of "email accounts", don't get stuck on nonsense. You know darn well what we are talking about by now.

And it wasn't one time.

If you changed passwords, etc. it was easy to unselect and resynch accounts, if you had to do even that.

It was very handy, especially for people who use this professionally and manage many accounts or strong passwords.

Please, apply common sense. People are specifically talking about the features they used to have, that are now missing. Nitpicking the few people who may refer to "email" instead of "email account" is deliberately distractive, as if that nullifies the very real issue of email account synching being taken out. We're looking for a solution to features that are now broken or missing, we used to rely on, not asking for anything new here...

It does sound like apple is fixing the "oversight" or listening to user demands at least partially, and adding back the ability to synch contacts and calendars via USB.

I sincerely hope they add the email account synching too, as it is a huge step back security and usability wise, for those of us managing multiple email accounts, personal, business, strong passwords, etc.

It's not nitpicking. This is a technical support forum. Using technical terms accurately is important. Saying, "Doctor, I can't see" means a very different thing than "Doctor, I can't see now that my glasses are broken." The solution might well be very different.

Words can also be used distractingly like sleight of hand.

if someone holds something in one hand, and says "my hand is empty", true but still an implied lie.

We're talking about the function of synching email accounts being taken away, among other things. Nitpicking that you could never synch actual emails was pointless in this context, even if a couple peoply may have accidently used the word emails throughout this thread somewhere.

And I am sorry. You are right. It is important to be as clear and correct as possible what you say.

It's just been so hard to discuss this with people incorrectly throwing things around like "just use iCloud" or that you could never sync emails, completely confusing the functionality that was previously there and now missing.

I know you are just trying to help. I did think in the context of the option to synch email accounts being MIA, along with other tab items, the fact that you were not synching actual emails through iTunes, just IMAP, Exchange, or other settings, was an irrelevant aside and just confusing the issue, even if someone somewhere may have used the term "synching emails".

Hi Guys!

I had this same problem too! and I think I know how to solve it. Its just easy. Use your iMessage through your Laptop then open your address book -- drag all the contacts you want to transfer to your iphone to the iMessage window - NOTE: recepient should be your Mobile Number -- then when you recieved it, click and you'll see "add all contacts"

Hope this helps!

Just use iCloud.

This does not sync contacts. It simply copies them.

NOTE: recepient should be your Mobile Number

Why can't I send to my AppleID that is registered with iMessage?

Well, iM_coco!

If I had any authority to grant you a medal for being a genius I would. I had used SyncMate to export my contacts to my ipad. However, it created a duplicate list for all 712 contacts. After your suggestion I deleted the list using SyncMate and forwarded it via iMessage. It worked like a charm. Good work!

For those that keep saying "use the cloud," I DO NOT WANT to! My product was purchased with this feature installed as part of the software. Therefore, do not remove it! It would be like taking your car to the dealer you have purchased it from for a service and when you pick it up, they have removed something from the vehicle that they think that you no longer need (like bluetooth, navigation, etc..) Corporate arrogrance!

Hopefully Apple does respond to complaints about restoring the functionality through iTunes. I have heard plenty of rumors but haven't heard anything from Apple. The suggestion provided by iM_coco is a simple fix and I don't care if it doesn't "sync" the contacts but copies them, the point is; your contacts can be put on your device without using the cloud.

In the meantime, send apple your complaints to https://ssl.apple.com/support/feedback/

Furthermore, try writing a review (on the App store about Mavericks) that states the option to sync contacts, etc...... have been removed from iTunes with the installation of Mavericks. Funny, that mine was never posted, looks like Apple definitely reads those!
