After downloading OS X Mavericks, I can now no longer access any of Apple Applications

After downloading OS X Mavericks, I can now no longer access any of Apple Applications that need internet access such as Safari, Itunes Store, App Store, and Mail. Google Chrome works just fine but I need to be able to access these other apps. When I open Safari, part of the loading bar will loard then stop. The Itunes Store just says "Itunes Store". The App Store just says has the apps logo. None of my new mail will load. What can I do to solve this problem? Google Chrome works just fine but none of my Apple applications work any longer. I have a 2009 Macbook which was on the approved list of computers that could support Mavericks.

Finally discovered what the problem is which has to do with multiple displays. Apple changed the way multiple displays appear with Mavericks. If you are using multiple displays the display with the MacBook will show the application in your other display in gray which you cannot access since it is running on the other display. You have to move the mouse over to the other display to access the application. The following link explains the change:

update:

to make matters even worse, as others have stated throughout the discussions, after having synced my iphone, now i'm having problems with itunes.

my macbook pro, now has to "search" for my library, and if it's lucky enough to find it, when i go to sign out of itunes, it takes a while before the itunes icon disappears. if i lose my itunes library, i will lose my mind. i have thousands of songs (and yes, they are backed up in multiple places, but there's always an issue with that, as well.

also, i tried syncing my iphone 5 twice, and while i believe it did sync... in itunes on my macbook pro... the icon continually got stuck on "finishing sync".

problems seem to better getting worse, every day. has anyone found a sure-fire solution to these isssues?

i plan on making an appointment with the apple geniuses at the genius bar next monday, and hope they will have a solution to these problems by then.

i am so shocked at what overall havoc this upgrade has done to my entire system: wifi, itunes, iphone.

help.

OS X Mavericks Brings More Grief for Apple

The steady drip of problems with OS X Mavericks is not uncommon for new operating system releases, although Apple may be having second thoughts about naming version 10.9 'Mavericks' after a surfing site in California and using a default image of a crashing wave. Installation seems to take forever and with little payoff in terms of new features.

Apple’s OS X Mavericks version of its operating system for Mac computers is being adopted at a record pace. But there are also reports of a variety of issues, including problems with installation, the Mail app, and multiple monitors.

In just the first 24 hours of its availability, Mavericks version 10.9 accounted for 5.5 percent of all Mac-based Web traffic User uploaded file in the U.S. and Canada, according to ad network User uploaded fileChitika. The OS was released on Tuesday, and that traffic volume, if accurate, is more than three times the 1.6 percent of traffic recorded for Mountain Lion during its first 24 hours.

A key reason for the high adoption, of course, could well be this version’s price: free. Although the Mountain Lion update was only $19.99, any price tag is more of a hurdle than none.

Incomplete Downloads

Throughout the Web, there are reports of various installation problems, including incomplete downloads, hard disk errors, and installations that get hung up.

When downloading the OS, one circulating suggestion is to try again if there’s a problem, because of the high level of traffic. For hard disk errors, hold down Command-R immediately after the chime when the Mac is starting up. This will reboot the OS X recovery partition, after which Disk Utility can be run to undertake a disk repair routine on the main boot drive. Any errors can then be fixed, followed by a normal restart and resumption of the installation.

For installations that get hung up, wait about an hour to see if the installation resumes. If not, quit the installer or force-quit it, then reboot and try again.

There have also been reports of problems involving the Mavericks Mail app and Google’s Gmail. One such issue is that the Mail app cannot delete or does not show messages in the Inbox. Some users have also said that they are not able to send e-mail, or can’t rearrange Gmail mailboxes in the Mail app’s sidebar.

Multiple Monitors

Users who have second monitors have reported difficulties with mouse movement on second monitors that utilize a DisplayLink driver, following the Mavericks installation. Other issues include severe flickering on DisplayLink screens for some applications or difficulties in display arrangements when using two or more displays.

This steady drip of problems is not, of course, uncommon for new releases, although Apple may be having second thoughts about naming version 10.9 after a surfing site in California and using a default image of a crashing wave.

Mavericks can run on any Mac computer that can run Version 10.8 Mountain Lion, although the machine needs to have at least OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. The new OS features an updated Maps and iBooks app, a new power User uploaded file management that Apple says can reduce CPU usage by as much as 72 percent, enhanced security User uploaded file for apps and browser plug-ins, and a new Tags feature for organizing files in a way that is consistent across Macs and iOS devices.

jeez...

had i only known this BEFORE messing up practically every apple product i own:

The Bottom LineP

Overall, OS X Mavericks doesn't offer many compelling reasons to upgrade right now. While by no means terrible, we highly recommend waiting until Apple squashes most of the bugs and rolls out at least one update to the first version. If you really require one of the flagship features, however, go ahead and upgrade now. Although imperfect, it will work reasonably well and won't cost you anything but time.

if you are not going to post relative posts, please do not post anything at all, going for anyone posting good or bad reports about Mavericks. I would just like to figure out how to fix my computer. I am the original poster and I went to the genius bar on Saturday and my computer started magically working there. Unfortunately, it stopped working after I left. figures.
