Exchange servers and Mavericks Mail

It loads it when you open the Mail app, but then no new messages will appear in the Exchange inbox while app is open - fetch new mail and the Activity Window show "Synchronizing Inbox" and jsut sits there and waits.. Close the app and reopen - New Mail appears. Another bug?

Inconvenient yes, not impossible. As a retired person sending out the odd report to sports club members, I use entirely iwork, and convert only when I send out.

Were I still working and my employers even allowed me to use Mac (my actual employers of 35 years would never have allowed it!) I would get Office for Mac again.

For anyone able to, I suggest configuring Mail.app to connect to your Exchange server as IMAP. Delete the Exchange account from Mail.app, then create a new IMAP account. If your Exchange server doesn't allow IMAP connections then this won't work, but ours here is allowing it for iPhone e-mail etc. and so allows Mail.app to work. I used NTLM authentication for the IMAP and Password authentication for the SMTP. Now my e-mail arrives on my screen the split second it's sent.

I have stopped searching for a solution for Apple Mail/Exchange/Maverick...."Mail" stopped working properly the minute I "upgraded" to Maverick...while e-mail software on iphone or iPad work perfectly with exchange...so why bother fiddling with Exchange server parameters??

My exchange server (OVH) offers "Outlook Web App" and I have been using it ever since on my MacBook Pro: any change done is instantly synchonized on my iPhone and iPad...

For all small businesses who are desperate or do not want to spend hours finding a fix...this could help until Mr Cook goes into the Mail kitchen and fixes the recipe...

Please Mr Cook, the apple crumble on Mail/Exchange/Maverick is not edible and your clients are getting sick...and fleeing to the Microsoft restaurant!

Because your IOS devices do not connect to the Exchange Server in the same manner that your Mac does. One uses EWS, the other uses Active Sync. Different servers, differing settings.

All but the oldest Exchange servers offer web access.

So, who's updated to 10.9.2 and still having a problem with Mac Mail and Exchange.

Answer these questions for help.

Specifically, what is your issue? (E.g. Cannot send email, cannot retrieve email, A specific error is occuring)

What version of Microsoft Exchange are you connecting to? (E.g. 2007, 2010, 2013)

Which service pack and CU updates have been installed? (E.g. SP1, CU3)

Are you able to access your email via Outlook Web Access?

Have you tried Connection Doctor (under the Window drop-down menu in Mail.)? If Yes, what are your results for Exchange?
