Similar problem here. 21.5" late 2012 iMac updated to Mavericks last night. Everything seems fine except for the WiFi connection. I have the Mac hooked up to a BT Home Hub 4 by ethernet, and have Wi Fi running as well to connect to wireless printer and other devices. I have the exclamation mark over the greyed out bands and System Prefs/Network reports that WiFi has a self assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the internet. I've rebooted the hub, and deleted/reinstalled the WiFi network through Network Preferences. No change. WiFi is working though, as I can print to the wireless printer. Curiously, if I search for a network, the Home Hub 4 network doesn't show up, although I can see my neighbour's Hub 3 network.
Logging on to the Hub shows that the 2.4GHz network is being used by my iPad, iPhones and Airport Expresses, but nothing is using the 5Ghz network, The iMac's WiFi MAC address is not listed as being on either wireless network (but it is connected via ethernet and shows up in the list), but still seems able to connect to the printer via WiFi.
Any suggestions?
Edit:
Just looked at the TCP/IP pane of the WiFi advanced settings, and there is no IP address listed adjacent to "Router". Clearly the iMac is not seeing the router through the software, but is still able to connect to the network somehow.
