Mavericks Finder Coverflow Gets Lost

I have upgraded to Mavericks, and I am having trouble with Coverflow in the Finder. When I delete files it gets lost, showing previews of files that are not the ones that are highlighted. The spacebar preview seems to work, showing me the actual contents, but the coverflow view is for a different file. Also, if there is a long list of files in the folder, it cannot display the files further down the list.

I was in the middle of a large project, going through thousands of photos in finder, when I upgraded. I had the perfect workflow, using coverflow, and it worked flawlessly in Lion. It seems this got boken in the update.

Any suggestions?

Apple - what the heck is going on!!

Still no fix. I have a $3500 one year old Mac book Pro Retina you managed to turn into a utter disaster.

I am a Mac user for 30 years and I still cant believe you released this utter POS.

Coverflow is still an issue. My machine is sooo slow its rediculous. Most finder functions are buggy and inconsistent.

Mavericks is a disaster - i recommend you put every soul you have on fixing this right now !!!!

Most dissapointing and distrubing. Good thing Steve is not alive to see this crying shame.

One bug I keep noticing... is that when you launch a new finder window...

it always goes DIRECTLY to 'ALL MY FILES' and it takes a bezillion years to finally come up.

I BELEIVE it used to go to the previously looked at folder... which is normally 'Desktop' or something for me.

Going by default to 'ALL MY FILES' is going to create a HUGE lag in using Finder - if it does it all the time.

NOT good. I even tried to DELETE the 'All My Files' from the sidebar, but it still opens to that folder NO MATTER WHAT.

This is uncool.

Ok. for all you impatient nerds out there... (like me)

This is a good fix to the above, aforementioned irritation:

I also disabled ALL tags, since I KNOW that was a 'new' feature that probably destroys the OS's performance.

It's proably just got bugs.

Doing the above -setting my default folder to DESKTOP makes it all MUCH FASTER all of the sudden.

Cheers!

I have a related issue with Mail in that when I view certain email attachments inline, specifically fax to email tif's, they act the same as this coverflow bug .. which I also am annoyed about.

Perhaps someone can tell me if Mail does indeed use "coverflow" to display certain types of attachment.

Further off topic .. this was not fixed with the Mail update.

I haven't seen anything on other sites...I also almost comitted a "horrific faux pas" due to this Finder issue. Top and Bottom of list deletions are classic situations where bugs occur in software (almost every developer has somewhere in their career made such mistakes). These things are notorious...and therefore should be tested for. Embarassing for Apple! A few years ago my Pioneer Blu-Ray player had an issue with the displayed file being one off from what was being played. Classic! Anyway, let's hoep for a fix soon. In the mean time, I will stop using Cover Flow view jsut to prevent these "faux pas" situations.

Add me to the list. Moreover, when Finder default is set to Cover Flow, any application that invokes the Finder dialog it will try and start in Cover Flow and crash your application.

This happens in iTunes when I tried to add artwork to a song from the file system. It happens in Studio One when importing or creating a new project.

After reading this forum I was able to realize it was a Finder - Cover Flow problem and not the applications that were crashing. I set Finder default back to List and the problem is gone.

I'm constantly refreshing the App Store Updates page for this ridiculous bug to get fixed.
