Java SE 6 runtime update

Hello,

When opening an application like Adobe Photoshop CS4 on my Macbook Pro (2009) OS X Mavericks, I receive a popup stating "You need Java SE 6 runtime."

When clicking install I am prompted with "Can't download the software because of a network problem."

I have tried restarting my computer, installing a new version of Java, and also turning my wifi off in network preferences, and then turning it back on.

Please help with this issue.

Downloading the JRE package woodmeister50 recommended http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572, and after a restart, all of the applications that threw this error (Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver) now run. However, Captivate still doesn't. The JRE message has been replaced with a dialog bix that just says "Adobe Captivate!" with an Ok button. I'm searching through code to see if I can fid out where that is coming from and what file(s) cause the application to display that box.

Glad I didn't have my development team upgrade!

I'll post again if I find anything. :-)

Whilst woodmeister50's solution did work, this is now the 3rd application I've tried to load since upgrading to mavericks that has wanted to install something and not been able to due to the aforementioned "network error". Quite frustrating that you have to google a solution instead of it just being able to download and install automatically as is obviously intended.

Hey! New in this community.

I have the same problem and it still persists. Mine was showing this error while launching my USB internet adapter connector. I used the link to download the software in my frn's pc and then installed it. But it was of no use....

I contacted the customer care and they told me that maybe the adapter is not compatible with Mavericks. But it reads "Mac 10.4 or later". So, i don't think that is the problem.

Please help in this matter.
