Big preview problems on Mavericks

Raw files are way too slow compared to Mountain Lion on quick preview.

It's something that i use on a daily basis, and today was impossible to do it... :S Spinning wheel all the time.

Anyone has the same problem?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

There's no need to get snitty Michel. Your defensiveness makes it clear that the people complaining in this forum are correct. I have more than enough RAM, my HD has 60% free space. And I do not have MAC KEEPER and all those daft applications that suck your computer dry.

And strange I cannot reach this forum direct from my e-mail anymore. It states "We are busy updating Apple Support Communities for you we'll be back soon." How nice of them.I have to find the threat now another way.

Tell me, who else hasn't got third party software or a plug in on their computer!? And even if I did have malware, crapware or doucheware as you call it the previous OS handled all them perfect. And in a next generation software it should do BETTER than the last not worse.

I am a professional photographer also Michel. It is how I make my living. And you should know that Mavericks is NOT up to the task. You say millions are having no issues. How do you know? Maybe it's because they don't use their computers as frequently as we do they don't have the time to seek air time on this forum. I am a little disappoint that a so called MAC expert takes to more or less attacking those that find fault in this Apple product. Actually it sums up the new Apple ethos doesn't it?

whoops, you didn't use the word doucheware and are not a photog. Apple still not letting me directly access the forum so I can't edit my original post. I didn't make the insinuation that all MACs pre-2012 were not 64-bit. In a nutshell, if you have an old device and don't have a lot of superfluous time on your hands to pick through every buggy application, don't upgrade. Case closed. Moving on.

A general statement.

These technical help forums are for users who want real help in troubleshooting their Mac issues. One of the major Terms of use when coming to these forums is that there is no ranting, raving or whining about your Mac issues or Apple. Yet, users continually use these technical help forums to do so.

Ranting and whining here won't help users or the experienced users here who volunteer their time to come here to help other users sort out their Mac issues. Not to come here and read about all of the whining about how Apple did this or didn't do that.

Another generalized statement. The vast majority of Mac users who aren't having problems with their Macs don't come to technical help forums, like this. Users only come here when they are having issues or problems with their Macs and that always represents a minority of users.

My statements to both you and others who responded to me.

If you know your issues with your Mac, post them along with a report from a very nifty Mac troubleshooting report app, called Etrecheck and post your issues and results here into a brand new posting. I and more experience users will gladly help to your Mac back to a good,

Etrecheck was developed as a simple Mac diagnostic tool by a regular Apple Support forum user and technical support contributor named Etresoft.

Etrecheck is a small, unobstrusive app that compiles a snapshot of your entire Mac hardware system and installed software. This is a free app that has been honestly created and provided to help diagnose issues with Macs and the new OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

It is not malware and can be safely downloaded and installed onto your Mac.

Copy/paste and post its report in a new thread post so that we have a complete profile of your Mac's hardware and installed software so we can all help with your Mac performance issues.

Many times regular Mac users, can figure out other users' Mac issues better than Apple's own tech support.

My my comments to you.

I have never stated that I am an "expert" here.

There are quite a few users here that I do consider "expert" level here and, like me, contribute their greater wealth of knowledge in helping users to troubleshoot and solve other user's Mac problems.

I am not a Photographer, but I am a designer and creative artist that, due to health problems,am only a part time professional, now. That doesn't mean that my Mac still doesn't get a work out on a daily basis.

I have been using Mavericks on and off since its release and haven't had many of the issues that other users have been posting here. As a lone, freelance creative, I have to, also, be my own systems administrator for my Mac.I So, I am the one who has to make sure it stays in a healthy, smooth running condition.

That stated, I still do a fair chunk of my core design work using OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leoaprd.

So, I do not use OS X Mavericks on a regular, daily basis.

Being part time now, I cannot afford to purchase upgrades to a few of my key applications that no longer run under OS X 10.9.

Mainly a fairly expensive CAD application and two other applications that I have been using for many, many years.

As a creative and Mac users, you must be already aware the when a new OS upgrade comes out! there are always issues with older software NOT being compatible/compliant with a new OS version. This has always been the case and is no different with OS X Mavericks. Mavericks may just be more sensitive to needing more software updates an/or software incompatibilities than previous versions of OS X.

Eveyone's Mac and Mac setup iis different and may not gel well with a new OS version! initially. This does NOT, necessarily, mean it is Apple's fault or Apple released a bad OS. Every OS X version has had bugs and early adopters/upgraders will, always, run into them. The new OS is not even 6 months old, yet.

All Mavericks users, currently, are all early adopters.

If you are like me, a lone creative or perhaps a small photography business, part of your responsibility is to make sure all of your tools and equipment are all in good working order. It's no different with the Mac. You may/have to take the time needed, out of a busy schedule, OR pay a good Mac expert, to get your Mac optimized for use with OS X Mavericks.

Coming here to whine and blame Apple helps no one.

That out of the way, if you are a professional, you should have working backups of all your work and projects and maybe a backup of your previous OS to revert back to easily if your Mavericks issues are too much to surmount, right now.

If you have a backup of your previous OS, it is very easy to revert your Mac back to a former working state.

IF you have no backups of your OS, the doing now is going to be more tedious and difficult.

If you you want to go back to a previously working OS X version, without any backup, it, basically! involves a complete clean, re-install of your previous OS X working version.
