How do you control alt delete on a mac?

"Force quit".

You can get there by pressing option-command-escape.

Or via the Apple Menu.

Or via the various "Stop" commands in Activity Monitor (in your Utilities folder).

Or by clicking and holding on the dock icon of a hung-up process, or pressing option while clicking and holding on a dock icon of a normal process.

There are other things, too, e.g., Terminal commands, but the above usually suffice.

Brevity is virtue in forums. But there you have it from Nick_44, with an assist to CT who gave a great answer but to a different question. In short:

RESTART = control-alt-delete in Windows = fn-control-option-delete in iOS.

FORCE QUIT = option-command-escape in iOS.

You press 'fn' which is bottom left this is the function key.

Then 'ctrl' next door to the 'fn' key.

The 'alt' which is agian next door.

Then finally 'backspace or erase' the key with the large arrow pointing left. Top right below the remove disk key.

'fn' key allows the 'backspace or erase' to become a 'delete' key.

Thanks for the help 🙂 "by clicking and holding on the dock icon of a hung-up process" is the method I choose to use...I like the keyboard shortcuts too! Im trying now to learn those....

OK I have another question to ask of you: Can you pick which Applications are in your Dock? That would make sense that you should be able to, but it's not obvious to me that that is an option....is it? If so...how?..of course:)

I have the same problem but I cannot 'Force Quit' as the system tells me I can't shut down because software is being installed (running package scripts); that I will damage my computer if I proceed, but I cannot proceed as it just jumps back to the 'install in progress' pop up.

Something's obviously wrong as it's been trying to install for over 12 hours. Please help.

If you haven't found this by now, you should of!! 😁 The apps that are there that you do not wish to be there click and drag them into the trash icon. Apps you want there, go to your launch pad, click and drag the app you want to your dock. And Tada, you have removed, and added applications to your dock.

Found a way to send control-alt-delete when running VMWare Horizon Client on macbook

I hit command "i" and it sent my vmware screen to "hit control alt delete"

Go to the top menu bar, Click the "Connection" menu, and slide down to "Send Ctrl-Alt-Del"

then i was able to type my password in and re access my work virtual desktop without quitting the program.
