Can't view 2-up spreads in Pages 5!!

This is a major mess-up. I can't view, let alone edit, my Pages document in 2-up mode since upgrading to Pages 5. If Apple's really interested in attracting pro customers, they need to hire pros as consultants during the UI and features develeopment phase. Viewing 2-up should have been a no-brainer since most publications are composed in 2-up... Pagination is done at the prepress stage, but I digress.😠

You need to upgrade the installed version to v4.3:

You didn't need to reinstall it, it should have been in your Applications/iWork folder.

Export your Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx and trash/archive Pages 5.

Then rate/review Pages 5 in the App Store.

@Pottedjam: please let us know if it works. I have been unable to successfully install iWork 09 on a new installation of Mavericks. In other words, AFAIK, the only way to get pages 09 working on Mavericks is already have it there before the OS upgrade. I could be missing something but I've been looking and trying for a week now. The problem also could be specific to my older iMac. -Mat

Unfortunately, with a clean install of Mavericks (i'm not talking about a migration here) there is no old iWork folder. Transferring from your old lion or mountain lion install or an older computer with the iWork 09 folder or even from the installation DVD (and the Apple support update to 4.3) has not worked for anyone to my knowledge. Pages either will not start or hangs when you try to open a document if it will start. Am I wrong?

I have tried moving iWork '09 from my clone (prior to wiping and installing Mavericks fresh), from my other Mac (updated to Mavericks using the in-place method, thus leaving iWork '09 installed), and finally from the iWork '09 retail DVD, then updating to 4.3. None of these three methods produces a Pages 4.3 or Keynote '09 version that will run. The install seems to go fine, but the app will not create a new document or open a document created by Pages '09 (or any other version).

Old (feature complete) iWork still runs fine on my MacBook, but I would really love to have it back on my iMac without having to revert to Lion. Is there an intricacy in the copy-over process I am missing or something I can try to track down that might be hanging my particular install? I've cleaned out all the .plst files associated with iWork that I can find. When I boot back in to the clone from last week (Lion), Pages 4.3 still runs normally, so it's not corrupted.

Thanks,

-Mat

You messed up the trasnsition, it was probably in your Applications/iWork folder to start with if you had migrated your old system.

I suggest trashing ALL your installations and .plists:

and start again, first with the iWork '09 DVD making sure you update it to v4.3:

Same problem, same disappointment. I'm writing a book and want to view my file as 5.5x8.5 two up so it looks like a book and have a better idea of how it will read while I am writing it but, of course apple generates more disappointment from me. So here's another angry comment to add to the bucket and hopefully they will address this obviously aggravating issue. Also not very nice of them to force me to upgrade. Add an angry emoticon to validate my aggression. 😠

Can't view 2-up spreads in Pages 5!!
