I hate the new tags in Mavericks, need coloured folders!!
Is there a way to return the colour folders when using the new tags like the old behavior of labels? These new circle thingees are too small and barely noticable.

I respect your views, but as far as I know there is no bug like you said "This is mainly because the tags, colored dot, or whatever someone might call it are either not visible due to the finder name column bug ": did you click the name column header in list view -while holding the alt(option) key- and marked the 'Tags' ?
About your last post, I see that it was removed?, please keep to the codes of conducts in thie forum.

One of the discussion threads related to that issue is here: "Name" portion of my Finder windows too long
At the end of the day, it's happening to a lot of people. The only thing I believe is what I see in front of me and what Apple tells me. There are some "opinions" on various blogs and I can only relate to what I am personally experiencing. Been using a Mac full time since around 1999, not the longest of users, but spending day in and day out in Finder one gets used to it's behavior. I have never seen anything like this... started with Mavericks upgrade.

That thread is about how to adjust the width of the 'Name' column in Finder and how to make that setting the default. I am happy to see that there is another 'bug' that you have been discussing with Apple (another bug another bug report number, but I assume that you won't post that)
What does that have to do with colored folders?
Then you either didn't read the thread closely enough to see the issue people are having, or you are just trying to give me a hard time.
I read the thread it's on a different subject, and your unsubstantiated claims of known 'bugs' is just that, unsubstantiated (how many of these do you have now, is it just the 2)
Post the bug report numbers, what are you hiding?
This isn't personal, I react to all FUD spreaders in the same manner, don't think that you merit anything different.
If you read that thread in detail, you can easily see that a lot of people are having the column width issue. It acts different on local vs. external drives. The name column is pushed off the screen and one has to enlarge the finder window, adjust and then when your re-open, the column is again off the screen again, the setting does not stick. Even if one holds down control, or command, or one of the many other suggestions. Deletes connected plists, etc.
There are a lot of people in that thread who are calling it a bug, and so if you indeed read the entire thread, then based on your logic, you should go ahead and launch your attack on them as well.

Remind me again what hat has to do with this thread
And what about those bug report numbers? can't find them maybe?
How we got to this point is clearly documented above. I have a call into my senior support rep at Apple.
No, you're the one running around the forum spreading unsubstantiated nonsense, I have my hands full with you thanks.
And where are the report numbers that would allow you to substantiate some of the aforementioned, surely you haven't lost them? Surely they are real and you are not just making it up as you go along? It's not hard to type the numbers in after all.
Running around the forum? First off, I'm sitting at my desk and not running. Secondly, there are thousands of threads here in the forum and I am posting in 3 of them, along with many others who share the same view.
And you have your hands full? Do you work here? Is this your responsibility to manage the forum? Nobody is asking you to monitor things, Apple does that. I don't know why you are even posting in threads that you cannot relate to.
When and if Apple gives me a bug number, which I never asked for, then I will post it.
I habitually ignore unsubstantiated claims, which is exactly what you present.
New Version XtraFinder.
Now the feature called "Legacy Color Label". Sort of overlay now.
Only the Sidebar appearance items are prone to cause crash.
I am not a proponent of XtraFinder and even less for the other tools....
Curious how it behaves under a new update of 10.9 (4 underway).

PS: still admire your staying power 😁
I dislike 3rd party GUI and File system utilities intensely, but as many of the posters on this thread seem unable to move forward without coloured folders this may help. Any untoward issues caused by this junk is a result of the users decision (as ever)

I'm on autopilot, there is nothing new here to respond to so it's all in the cache somewhere.
i think you miss the point, Labels are a quick visual reference to files you want your attention to go to, the tags are way off to the side and not as immediate as labels. i have been using tags for 2 weeks and still am much slower than with labels.
it is possibly a creative vs analytical thing, i am not someone who quickly can read the text, instead I look for patterns, shapes and colors.
The way Tags are implemented now to me, are more of an analytical mind set, making those who are more creative lost. Isn't the mac suppose to be geared toward creatives?
