I hate the new tags in Mavericks, need coloured folders!!

Is there a way to return the colour folders when using the new tags like the old behavior of labels? These new circle thingees are too small and barely noticable.

So sorry, maybe English is not your first language. "Rest of the Operation Systems on the market" Maybe you can read some of the other posts in this thread and then you would understand how people feel about the change.

I too presume you mean Operating Systems. How many of these other OSs are there?

You are not making much sense and have wondered well off topic.....again. I think the combination of taking away the coloured icons in the sidebar and adding the tags are one of the most productive additions I have seen for a long time. My entire studio is running at a better workflow now.

Cheers

I'm sure your studio is running great. The rest of us aren't happy with the feature loss. It's completely acceptable that users will either like or dislike a new feature. Like tabs in Finder, they are wonderful but maybe someone else doesn't like them... and I'm going to respect their feeling about it. Personally, I don't need a tab or folder color to be productive, but the colored folders sure did make finding things easier. I'm sure tags is a great feature, and it would have been great in addition to colored folders.

Don't know what you mean. You post about wanting coloured folders in a thread titled

Re: I hate the new tags in Mavericks, need coloured folders!!

and you think I know that you are talking about something else? If you are referring to coloured labels then post in the correct thread, where it will be suggested that you use XtraFinder or TotalFinder. There is no other option than the multi-functional Tags in Mavericks.

You could also use your most recent backup from before you chose to install or commit to Mavericks, to revert to an older OSX.

Of course if these are not satisfactory to your needs, then give Apple your feedback

Good Luck

I know what you mean, and you don't have to change your post at all. This thread is about the new tags, which is a new feature, that replaced a very productive feature of colored folders. While the new organization solution might be more robust and take some of us time to get used to or find proper use for. The whole point of this thread is to allow people who are not happy with the change to voice their opinion and discuss the situation together. Clearly, there are some who love the feature change, and we respect their opinion. It would be mature and pleasant if those same people respected the very large % of users who are not so excited about the feature change.

I miss the visual que to where certain folders are located. I have 1000s of folders in list view and now that I don't have my colored folders, I find my favorites lists in finder growing larger and larger. This is mainly because the tags, colored dot, or whatever someone might call it are either not visible due to the finder name column bug or not a strong enough visual que to catch my attention. Maybe my eyes will get used to the small colored dot after the finder name column bug is resolved and I can actually see the dot without having to resize all my columns each time I want to use finder.

Unfortunately, this whole topic is complicated and tied into other issues and so don't apologize to anyone about expressing your opinion. We are all passionate about the Mac, but that doesn't mean we can't be critical using words and descriptives that describe our experience.

The most important thing is to give Apple feedback, they do not read these forums in that manor. feedback

BTW - Path Finder still shows my colored folders and does not have the name column bug. Very usable, but it has always been a little slow and tends to cause system hangs. I confirmed this across many systems, even with fresh installs.

Good Luck, keep expressing yourself, and don't worry about what others may think

Hi Pete, the issue has been documented by people who have a much stronger pen then I do. I recommend reading the post by Diglloyd on his MacPerformance Guide:

macperformanceguide.com/blog/2014/20140213_1-Mavericks-bugs.html

You can also google the issue and it's very well documented. Apple tier 2 have confirmed that it's a bug with me, and that it will be addressed in the future.

Until then, I am using the better touch tool solution that one can find on google.
