Substitute for Lazy Mouse

Mavericks is working fine, but the upgrade has left my beloved Lazy Mouse dead.

Is there any application like Lazy Mouse - which automatically moves the cursor from any part of the screen to the click area?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

After many years without LazyMouse, I was inspired by your Post to try again. I can happily say that I got LazyMouse 2.5 running successfully in MacOS Sierra 10.12.3.

I downloaded Version 2.5 at this link: http://mac.brothersoft.com/lazymouse-download.html

I completed the Install process. It installs as a System Preference, not an app. When I tried to open it, I got this:

User uploaded file

This is referring to an older version of Mac OS X. Instead, go to System Preferences, Privacy, Accessibility and look for Lazy Mouse on the right side. In my case, it wasn't there so I did a Restart.

Even after the Restart, Lazy Mouse still did not appear in the Accessibility window. Attempts to open the Lazy Mouse Preference Pane resulted in the "LazyMouse cannot run if "Access for Assistive Devices" is turned off in the Universal Access Preference Pane" as seen above.

I more or less gave up and walked away for long enough for my iMac to go into Sleep Mode. Three hours later, I went to System Preference and double-clicked the Lazy Mouse icon just to try again. To my surprise, Lazy Mouse appeared to be working as I got an active window. Since I had previously purchased Lazy Mouse, it even showed my name next to the "Registered To:"

I checked the "Whenever a new window appears, snap the cursor to the "Default Button." I then went back to the Privacy, Accessibility window and again, to my surprise, Lazy Mouse was now there as seen below:

I "checked" it and did a Restart. After the Restart, I went back to the Lazy Mouse Preference Pane and did the "Try it Out..." That worked! I then opened a document in Pages and went to File, Print and pleasantly saw the cursor on the blue "Print" button thanks to Lazy Mouse. I next tested it in Preview and it worked there as well.

I hope this info helps someone attempting to get this "classic" Mac app up and running in Sierra.

Well, as mentioned, I was able to make Lazymouse work on my iMac 2009, using Mavericks. However, as Old Jewel software suggests, they stopped updating the software with 10.6. If that doesn't work for you, there are several software options that might work for you:

Pinpoint Mouse Enhancer

Pointer Finder

Cursor Finder

I have no why different machines using the same OS will end up with such different results rendering Lazy Mouse. Until Old Jewel software updates, you may have to move to the more compatible alternatives.

I wanted to check to see what was happening with this software, as I've been a happy user for years now, currently running Lion on a MacBook4,1. I was disappointed to find that the author let the Old Jewel domain name expire and now it's one of those link-squatter pages.

Yeah, no kidding! Snap-to default mouse button has been a feature in Windows since at least NT4. When I got my first MacBook back in 2007, the lack of this feature drove me nuts until I found LazyMouse.

yup System Preferences Crashes. but

if u already purchase the app and have the llicence file present in /Lib

and dont want to change ur Preferences .

just run ~/Library/PreferencePanes/LazyMouse.prefPane/Contents/Resources/L azyMouseBG.app

it will work ..

if llicence is already activated then u can also change the app Preferences from

~/Library/Preferences/com.oldjewel.lazymouse.plist

if u r like me and using this app from Mac 10.3 then .

these are your llicence files .

~/Library/Preferences/oldjewel.lazymousereg

~/Library/Preferences/lazymouse.reg

i still haven't managed to find a way to make it work.

i'm using 10.9.3 mavericks and lazymouse 2.5

i have added/Library/PreferencePanes/LazyMouse.prefPane/Contents/Resources/LazyMouseBG .app in the login items and the process runs but the cursor does not move

when i try to open the prefpane i can see before it crash that the "move to default button" option is selected

any help would be highly appreciated.

I had to set up a new Mavericks system, and while I have the original registration code available, I don't have these files in my ~/Library/Preferences

Is there any hope also for me?

YES!

Anybody who still has their original registration mail can easily create these files using any text editor.

In ~/Library/Preferences/oldjewel.lazymousereg, enter your registered user name.

In ~/Library/Preferences/lazymouse.reg, enter your registration code.

In both cases, do NOT press enter at the end of the line. Just enter the information, save the file and you're done.

I've been searching for just exactly this!! Their website is no longer active via macupdate... anybody have any ideas? Subistutes? I'm about to have to do 1600 repetitive actions that can only be done manually and each one requires that I click a default dialog box option.. please!?

BTW, you can just download LazyMouse 2.5 directly from MacUpdate.com. Registration is another story, unfortunately.
