Iphone 5s battery drain even in airplane mode

Hello all,

Have iPhone 5S from UK. IOS 7.0.3 installed. Experiencing the following problem.

I noticed that the battery drains too fast on the 2 days old phone.

When i go to sleep i put alarm on, close all apps, switch off the sound, put the device in airplane mode. When i wake up, 8h, the battery drains 10% or more. On the iPhone 4 this wasnt an issue, max 1-2 percent, but in most cases it remined same percent. Why is this battery draining that fast with nothing running? Any solution?

Also when phone reaches 1% it seems to sit more on it than it should before recharging, as if 1% is the same as 3% i can compare this because i see how fast percentages deplete before that.

I am having a hard time believing that this is the device? Or is it? Should i reset? Delete some apps?

Please help....

Its the Power Rating of the Charge Adapter that matters not the USB-Lightning Cable.

Anyways after reading your issues, its evident that your iPhone 5s has a hardware defect.

Please do not tamper with it further, to avoid deteriorating the device.

Simply contact your nearest 'MacIntel Solutions' who will replace your iPhone for free.

I completely agree!!!

I am more than happy, but like I said the people at the store were very hesistant/not happy to give me a new phone.

Just talk to an advisor on the phone, they were a great help. I had been upgraded to talking to a Senior Analyst as well. The told me all this stuff i know about how to reduce battery life, and then i told them my battery still drains in airplane mode overnight, they were like you should head into an Apple Store.

I probably spoke to someone from apple (store, chat and phone all included) a total of 7 times!!!! keep persisting! You can get your phone fixed too!!

Hi KDK1969, yeah after changing all my settings to reduce battery and still not finding a solution I went back to the Genius Bar for a second time. They could see that our efforts were for nothing and after checking that there was no water damage (there wasn't) they just swapped mine for a completely new iPhone! I was in and out in under 20 minutes. That's what love about Apple Care - no messing about for weeks while you post off your broken phone. The fact that I had to get a replacement in the first place is annoying, but it was delt with well.

So the solution everybody is - change your settings to reduce battery drain. If that doesn't work... go to the Genius Bar!

Apple is giving me a new phone free of charge Apple is here to stay with me 😉. Unfortunatelly there are no Apple Stores in Greece and had to go through the channel of the authorised distributor so my down time is sunbstantially more than 20minutes but it's ok.

Using Android again for a few days confirned to me why Apple is so much better !!

I had the same problem even in airplane mode. When this occurs my iPhone is much hotter then normal. I fixed the problem by resetting my network settings and remove my sim card. Going back to factory settings may also help. After every IOS update this problem occurs on my Iphone 4S. Yes it did happen again with IOS8. It seems to be a hardware issue but it isn't.

And I thought I was the only one. It kind of gave me a dense of relief because I felt for a moment that I may have been doing something wrong. Anyway, i also have the iphone 5s 32 gb and at night before i go to sleep (phone fully charged) i turn on flight mode and the battery drops about 40% in 7 hours. During the day, forget about it. It s charged twice. Whether i use it alot or not. I took it to vofafone (greece) and they said they needed to keep the phone for 20 days at least. Thats just crazy. Anyway with the new update i ve monitored my battery usage and the only thing that drains it is low signal 20% and screen %. Now , what i dont get is how the screen uses so much when it s not being used and the background light is really low but also how it searches for signal when it s in fligjt mode

I have the same problem guys! I bought an iPhone 5s 16GB from eBay, and the guy said to me its a battery problem. I have bought a new genuine battery, replaced it, but the problem still persist. In a half a day, the phone's battery will decrease from 100% to 0% without using it. What I can do in this situation? I made a terrible choice, I know, but I like this phone and I want to use it so much.
