Mavericks disables push mail
Updated to osx mavericks and push mail appeared not to work, all settings were good except now my phone said fetch instead of push. Can anyone confirm? I rolled back to mountain lion and push mail was back.

Some background, as push notifications have confused various folks, including occasionally me... iOS push notifications are tied into Exchange Server with ActiveSync, and into services that use the APNs Apple push notification service. (There are other push notification protocols around, and various versions of OS X Server mail have confusingly also offered IMAP push notifications, and that was not what most folks expected when they read "push".)
To your question, Mavericks uses APNS for SMTP push notifications, and those are supposed to work. If you're not getting the APNS requests on your iOS device, then check that your APNS certificates are valid on your Mavericks Server configuration, review your server logs for errors and maybe your local network firewall settings, and see if push notifications are enabled on your iOS device.
Caveat: I haven't rolled Mavericks Server 10.9 into production with iOS 7.0.3, so I have not tested these notifications yet. You might well have found a(nother) bug.
Yep I checked all of those and still no push was set to fetch on my phone after Mavericks upgrade. When I rolled my server back to Mountain Lion push returned.
Same probleme here, with upgrading to Mavericks and the Server App Version 3 I can't select Push on my iOS Devices anymore.
I had the same problem - what seems to have sorted it was renewing the push service certificate. That appears to have had the effect of reinitialising the certification.
I still ahve one glitch: I have 3 mail domains on the server: on my iPad, all 3 push; on my iPhone 2 do and one fetches. Odd
Same problem after upgrade to OS X server 3. I renewed my certificate but it didn't bring the push back for the mail but the push is still working for the calendar. Contact is also not working with push updates.
Any idea to solve the issue is welcome 🙂
Turn off "Enable Apple push notifications" from the server settings panel, and then turn it on. This solved my problem.
Same thing for me. After two times renewing the certificates and turning off and on the 'Enable Apple push notifications' it is now working with all my iOS Devices.
**** - I would have thought that after several reboots of my server (after another issue with devicemgrd wrecking havock on my system resources) that would have had the same effect as switching it off and on again. Clearly not! Disabling and re-enabling did the trick. Thanks!
I had this very same problem. I called support (I have a support contract), and the technician had me turn off push notifications in the Server.app, get a new push certificate, then turn the notifications back on. I got my notifications back. I had been freaking out since the upgrade last week, and the fix was quick and painless.
and also, for someone who didn't have push enabled or at least never knew that they did have it on... when i upgraded to 3 it gave me a 1 day duration cert, and then started spaming me the next day that it had expired. it would be nice that it gave you a hint as to where you need to go to turn it off, or what to do when it starts spaming you with daily mails.
This did not work for me. I am not using Open Directory or Profile Manager.
