Anyone has the same problem as me ?

I'm going to reintitate this thread,
Hi rrodby
John,
While I know they don't officially "participate", I used to contribute a lot to a certain "Support Community" years ago and they communicated once or twice directly to me, so I kinda figured it was monitored somehow. So I thought by telling my story it might get seen again, the squeeky wheel gets the oil.
regardless, I'm hopeful with future update, being able to access my work compiuter at home and vise versa is such a help for me.
thank you
roger
how can i roll back my imac to 10.8.5 id rather do that and wait instead of mavericks
Back To My Mac and some VPN clients will fail on OS X 10.9 Maverick if the "Broadband Tuner" was previously installed. This failure happens because the Broadband Tuner sets some system parameters that are too low for Maverick.
To fix this problem, please uninstall the Broadband Tuner using the installer that can be downloaded at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL420
Note that you may have to override your security settings to open the installer because it was created a long time ago before developer ID registration began:
- In the Finder, locate the BroadbandTuner.dmg and open it to show its content
- Press the Control key, then click the BroadbandTuner.mpkg icon.
- Choose Open from the shortcut menu.
- Click Open and proceed with the installation
You need to restart the system to apply the changes.
A final note: the “Broadband Tuner" is uninstalled when either:
- The file /etc/sysctl.conf does not exists at all
- The file /etc/sysctl.conf exists but does not contain the following lines:
#
# Tuning network for broadband
#
# START
kern.ipc.maxsockbuf=512000
net.inet.tcp.sendspace=131072
net.inet.tcp.recvspace=358400
# END
IT IS FINALLY FIXED AND MYSTERY SOLVED!!!!!!!!!
This was it. I installed Broadband Tuner in November and have not been able to access Back to My Mac since. I did not make the connection as Broadband Tuner came up as a suggestion for some other issue and I clicked on it. Don't really remember the details.
Anyhow, I ran the installer again, which by default uninstalles it if it is installed (looking under customize) and rebooted. Everything is working again as simple as that.
Thank you so much. I have a host of family and relatives I support with BTM and we have had to rely on the old iChat screen sharing through messages ever since.
Folks,
Vincent found it. The quick way to fix this is go into the terminal in an administrator account and type:
sudo mv /etc/sysctl.conf /etc/sysctl.conf.bad
Then reboot. That should solve your BTMM issues with the server not responding.
John
This fixed it for me as well. The icloud server not repsonding message has disappeared! I tried everything I could think of to fix this and would have never found this on my own.
Thank you!
Mitch,
Check out Vincent's recent post. That should fix it. Also, please mark his post as the correct answer to help his standing.
John
No joy here. Issueing the command generates this response:
mv: rename /etc/sysctl.conf to /etc/sysctl.conf.bad: No such file or directory
Never had this Broadband tuner installed. There's no sysctl.conf file to be found.
And I still get the "iCloud server not responding message".
Recently i've installed "Jump Desktop", which uses Google accounts to get computers to connect to each other. Works like a charm, allthough it doesn't wake up sleeping iMacs. Bonus feature: you get to control your mac from your iPad and iPhone.
Oh my golly!
This has fixed the error message. Next time I am away from home I'll test it out. So very cool if this is the end.
thank you for posting,
At the risk of being made fun of, OMG OMG OMG.
That did it.
Thank you So much.
While I don't use BTTM that much, when i need it i NEED it.
It is worth noting that to get to the un-installer you have to download the file from Vincent's link above, you will get BroadbandTuner.dmg Click on it and you get the installer Broadband Tuner, which opens up the file BroadbandTuner.mpkg. From there you need to right click -> show package contents -> Contents -> Packages-> BroadbandTunerUninstaller.pkg. Right click on this click on it to Open it, the rest is straight forward, run the program, then reboot and
yippe.
thank you so much Vincent!
roger
Finally. Thank you!
It worked mostly!!
I can screen share, despite the fact that it won't let me log in with my Name and Password -- which I know are correct. I also am unable to connect to show just the files, without doing a screen share.
Any ideas what tweak I might need to do?
Thanks so much,
Jon
Uninstalling Broadband Tuner worked for me. I can access files and screen share. Thank you very much!
Another success here by uninstalling Broadband Tuner. Vincent, you rock!
