Tiger as a Web Server (w/ php & mySQL)

Hi-
I have installed WebServerXKit on my 10.4.7 Mac. I would like this to function as a web server for my local network, with the possibility of being accessed from the outside.

Is this a good choice to add to Apache for php and mySQL? Also, is there a remote-admin tool (especially for mySQL) that I could add?

Thanks,
Michael

well i have always used the software from here for my server needs as he includes more libraries with php then just about any other one, but its still php/mysql/apache, and if it fits your needs, then your not going to get any better

as for remote management, use phpMyAdmin for mysql, anything else can be managed by files so just enable remote login from the sharing prefs in the system prefs and use a tool like Cyberduck to connect through SFTP, you could also use ssh with the remote login enabled, but you have to know how to use the command line

You can get a pretty nice configuration using Darwinports - Apache2, Mysql4 and PHP5 all installed well for me. I prefer DP over Fink as the versions of Apache, Mysql and PHP are more up-to-date.

Here is a link to Darwinports -

And a link to a tutorial for creating your MAMP environment -
