Email Folders gone after Mavericks update.
My email folders are gone after updating to OS X Mavericks. Anyone know how I can get the folders back?

I was ready to pull out all my hair with frustration but lukily came across it.
I think its such a simple solution, they have not even realised it them self. I guess thats why they have ths open ducussion. Hope theres no more hidden folders in there future updates..
Well, it's poorly thought out as we all have to waste time sorting out the unresolved stuff. Where is the icon that spun around to say that Mail is looking for mail on the server ? As I said before, if you were deaf how would you know if Mail was actually looking for Mail? That is a given on any email server to have a visual sign that the email system is looking for maiorsending itl. And where is the space screenshot? It's an operating system so why do they muck everything up instead of just creating an operating system?
I hope I understand correct??
With the new mail there is a little message box the appears in the top right corner for a few seconds. You can click on it and it gives you the option if you to reply or delete.
There is a little icon that you click on, on the left with an envelope on it but no visual indication of whether it is looking fo rmail or anything, only the annoying bleep when it has finished supposedly as how would you know unless mail appears? As isaid if you were deaf hiow would you know if Mail was doing what it is mean to do?
Thank you! This fixed my problem.
Thank you for this post, after updating and having a variety of problems, this solved the one which had made my blood run cold...loosing all my important emails! So just wanted to say thank you, MMSwan, really appreciate your post.
Jon
Easy solution.
Open Mail
Go to 'On My Mac'
Right click and open 'get account inormation'
It will then find all the previous boxes.
Then click 'show messages' at the bottom.
All recovered exactly as they were.
Updated from Snow Leopard to Mavericks.
All saved mail messages in the On My Mac mail folder were gone after the update.
I only had the iCloud saved mailboxes.
Could not Rebuild from the menu, neither was the On My Mac mail folder in the sidebar.
My solution:
Hook up my back-up hard drive.
In Mail:
File>Import Mailboxes>Import data from Apple Mail
Select my back-up hard drive.
Backups.backupdb>My_Name_iMac>Date of last backup>Macintosh HD>Users>myname>Library>Mail>Mailboxes
Click Choose.
All messages and mailboxes were imported and reside in an On My Mac mailbox on my sidebar.
Thanks, imac2, you nailed it.
Definitely scary for a bit there. One second I was reading email, the next second, all 6 mailboxes were completely gone from Mail. But yes, they ended up just being unchecked in Internet Accounts under System Preferences, and all the files under ~Library/Mail were there the whole time. How it happened, I have no idea!
Not sure if this entry in Console has anything to do with it:
11/16/14 10:42:14.137 AM mds[33]: (DiskStore.Warning:967) MLMailReadFixUp repair issued for 8 items
Dear all,
None of the above worked for me but I was put on the right track. The accounts list was messed up in my case. These accounts are in
Library>Mail>V2>Maildata>accounts.plist
I went back to a slightly older copy of the accounts.plist from my time machine and my mailfolders were back.
Hope that helps for those of us still under Mavericks (Yosemite ****** up my computer big time...)
Best, Hans.
Now the content in my e-mails is back but the "message resend" function locks up the mail program
Great O/S Apple - NOT
