The iPhone 4S was first available on October 14th, 2011. Therefore, your statement that, even with AppleCare, it would have been outside of warranty when iOS 7 was released is completely incorrect. Any iPhone 4S user with AppleCare on that device still had warranty coverage on September 26th, 2013, when iOS 7.0.2 was released.

I wish you the best of luck. In the future, I recommend taking more thorough precautions with your important purchases.

yet everyone here has been waiting for an answer from Apple. It's been over 2 months since my wife's phones battery and wifi problems and Apple hasn't said a word. We can argue all day on hardware or software or whatever. If they are smart enough to bring it into the Apple store they get lucky...if they wait to see if there is some sort of magic patch "that will never happen" they loose out and their warranty runs out.

The phones may have been defective since day one, but it is quite apparent that iOS 7 did the damage.

Why do you only pick out certain things to answer?

As for my important purchases in the future...they wont be Apple products!

You want an answer from Apple? Go to an Apple Store or call 1-800-MYAPPLE. That's how you get in direct contact with Apple. Not here.

As far as what I pick out to answer, I answer a lot of technical questions on this forum. If you mean responding to certain things on this thread? I'm not going to bother answering every minute, esoteric question, especially if it's not a technical question.

Anyway... people have gone to Apple and this is their answer.

If there wasn't an issue, who would there be news stories on it?

If there are no flying saucers, why are there news stories about them? If you believe everything you see on the Internet I am really, really, sorry for you.

You mean... Bigfoot isn't real, too?

My whole concept of reality has been shaken to its foundation!

Are you really compairing the iphone 4s wifi and battery problems with flying saucers? Really?!

No, I'm questioning how relevant a news story really is. You've probably heard the old journalism joke, "Dog bites man" is not a story worth reporting, but "Man bites dog" will get a headline every time."

Consider these two news stories:

"Recently, 300 million iPhone users upgraded to iOS 7. The vast majority of them did so without incident or inconvenience, and most of them are thrilled with the new look and new features and report that performance is the same or better than the previous release."

"Jane Doe of our town upgraded to iOS 7 on her iPhone, and she is heartbroken because she doesn't like the look of it, and she says she's had nothing but problems since the upgrade. She hasn't done anything to try to fix it, as that would ruin the news story that will get her name in the paper."

Which story do you think the editors will choose? Which one would you choose?

Is it possible to provide helpful advice without being a total jerk? Anybody that paid several hundred dollars for an iPhone certainly has a right to be ticked off that it breaks during normal usage. If applying a recommended OS update triggered a hardware failure, any reasonable person would expect some kind of compensation or sympathy at a minimum. The number of replies that are dismissive or insulting to people asking for help don't do anything to diminish the Apple fanboy image, so good job by you guys on that. The replies on this thread have gone from "it is probably the fault of your router" to "you just got a bad phone and stop complaining about it". On the other side, anybody suggesting that Apple somehow intentionally did this is hopefully just venting some steam, and doesn't actually believe anything like that. If you haven't actually called Apple, go do that right now. This thread isn't anything official and there don't appear to be any fixes beyond a hope to wait for a future OS patch to somehow fix the problem (which it can't if your hardware is toast).

Arielsam, is your wifi greyed out or still able to turn on and off? I'm hopeful for you that one day wifi will work again on your device as it has on mine. As matt connolly said, I was frustrated when my wifi quit on me, and quick to blame apple but everyone has to realize that all these little electronic gadgets we have are prone to have failures now and then.

And TJBUSMC1973 and vaportrails2002 you guys need to chill out and grab a beer (perhaps not together). Merry Christmas to all.

I have been in touch with them via e-mail and telephone with no solution yet.

The problem is that now I am in Argentina and I do not have Apple support here (I bought the iPhone in Spain). But next month I will be in US and I will visit an Apple Store for a solution.

Let´s see.... I do not have much expectatives about it, unfortunately.

If the iPhone was purchased in Spain, then a U.S. Apple Store will not be able to assist you. Any and all warranty-related service MUST be done in the country of purchase. Your best bet is to contact someone that your trust implicitly in Spain, and have then have them go to a local Apple Retail Store or authorized service provider in Spain.
