Mavericks install stuck at "about a second remaining"

I was installing on a Macbook Pro and it was stuck at half way and I left overnight but woke up to same half way bar.

Held down power button and restarted and all seems all ok!

This tread really helped me not to panic! Thanks all.

open installer log from the menu bar....

if nothing happens it might be a issue, otherwise it might just be the time counter.

I have been trying 3-4 times before seeing the install log option.

On my last attempt I even turned on the wifi and put the password while stuck at one second remaining.

I opened the installer log and I calmed down seeing it was doing something.

Do not panik! just become a little more geeks 🙂

I think the future of apple is command line 😝

Go to Window and "Installer Log" ... and choose "Show All Logs" ... if the process is stuck at failed/retrying just disconnect wifi and connect again. A retry option will pop-up. Check log file and you should get something like ... Got chuck 205 of 508 ... and counting ... this means the download is working even the about 0 seconds remaining message is not updating. All the best!

just calm down. After a couple of minutes "one second remaning" the update will be installed successfully.

same for me....I was a little scared, but you can't live your life in fear so I made me a sandwich and by the time i came back to my desktop it was ready!

3:30 hours later finally getting somewhere!! *Phew*

My reinstall quits at 3 hours and 13 min says Marvericks cannot download after haviing done so for 1 hour.

(Command - R)

Any ideas?

Same here. I wish I would have gone to 'page 2' and read your comment before reacting. Was stuck at 'about a second remaining' for over 2 hours. Here we go with round two...

thomasfromutrecht that's actually bad advice, the install fails when you do that.
