Kernel panic after upgrade to Mavericks

Hi everyone,

I'm currently using my MBP 13' mid-2012 in safe mode since my upgrade to Mavericks did not work as excepted...

I'm getting the following error every time I'm trying to boot in normal mode. I tried everything in CMD+R disk manager (check permissions, check disk, etc.), all seems to be fine, but the problem is I can't boot anymore in normal mode.

These are the logs :

A person called "Jonathan" on the Apple Support chat found the solution.

First, he made me remove all files in the Library/LaunchAgents, Library/LaunchDaemons and Library/StartupItems folders.

Then, in the Users and Groups menu, he made me remove all startup applications for my account.

And now my MBP starts as before.

If I have time, I will investigate to tell which startup service was causing the issue.

Thanks Jonathan 😉

Thanks for posting this, Libersab. These steps fixed the exact same problem I had. I'm not sure either which items were causing the problems, but I'll list all of them for posterity:

/Library/LaunchAgents/:

com.google.keystone.agent.plist

com.pgp.pgpengine.plist

com.hp.help.tocgenerator.plist

org.macosforge.xquartz.startx.plist

com.oracle.java.Java-Updater.plist@

/Library/LaunchDaemons/:

com.adobe.fpsaud.plist

com.google.keystone.daemon.plist

com.microsoft.office.licensing.helper.plist

com.oracle.java.Helper-Tool.plist@

com.pgp.framework.PGPwde.plist

com.pgp.wde.pgpwded.plist

org.macosforge.xquartz.privileged_startx.plist

/Library/StartupItems/:

HP Trap Monitor/

MATLABLmgr/

ParallelsTransporter/

~/Library/LaunchAgents/:

com.adobe.ARM.202f4087f2bbde52e3ac2df389f53a4f123223c9cc56a8fd83a6f7ae.plist

com.adobe.ARM.ad895013aeb33ea6e968d9fdc06c0eb42c7c2a5229d98d64ad002716.plist

com.apple.AddressBook.ScheduledSync.PHXCardDAVSource.8F59CED3-B994-4580-BFA1-2ED 028A01CEE.plist

com.mlbam.nexdef.core.NexdefLoader.plist*

Oct 28, 2013 3:32 AM in response to Ryan Edwards

This is really interesting because we have several items in common:

/Library/LaunchAgents/:

com.google.keystone.agent.plist

org.macosforge.xquartz.startx.plist

com.oracle.java.Java-Updater.plist

/Library/LaunchDaemons/:

com.adobe.fpsaud.plist

com.google.keystone.daemon.plist

com.microsoft.office.licensing.helper.plist

com.oracle.java.Helper-Tool.plist

So who's responsible? Google, Mac OS Forge, Oracle, Adobe or Microsoft?

Oct 30, 2013 9:06 AM in response to Libersab

I think we may have a common theme. I have the following in common with you and I also started seeing more frequent kernel panics after the Mavericks upgrade:

/Library/LaunchAgents/:

org.macosforge.xquartz.startx.plist

com.oracle.java.Java-Updater.plist

/Library/LaunchDaemons/:

com.oracle.java.Helper-Tool.plist

Coiuld Java be the culprit?

Nov 3, 2013 1:40 AM in response to Libersab

Hi Libersad, just responding to the issue with the Kernel Panic after updates mavericks. I too have the same problems and tried Jonathans suggestion (given by you). It works sofar..

But I was also curious which items caused the problem. The only item I have in common with you and loekvh is:

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.adobe.fpsaud.plist

Could this be the culprit?

During the day I will start and close my Imac and see if the Panics still remain. I hope the solution of Jonathan is THE SOLUTION to this problem.

Cheers,Larry

(I have removed the demon and startu-up files as suggsted above, I am pretty sure, still getting this kernel error).

Any help very much appreciated!
