Kernel panic after upgrade to Mavericks

Hi everyone,

I'm currently using my MBP 13' mid-2012 in safe mode since my upgrade to Mavericks did not work as excepted...

I'm getting the following error every time I'm trying to boot in normal mode. I tried everything in CMD+R disk manager (check permissions, check disk, etc.), all seems to be fine, but the problem is I can't boot anymore in normal mode.

These are the logs :

Andrea,

Your panic seems to indicate that you need to run Disk Utility (in the Utilities folder) and verify the disk. Your last useful routine in the backtrace is something called "hfs_scan_blocks" which is related to the volume information.

The only third party software you have which would affect a panic is com.rim.driver.BlackBerryUSBDriverInt (i.e. the BlackBerry software). I would look to see that you have the latest version of BlackBerry's software installed.

Good luck.

Brian,

after a few panic's I decided to reinstall Mavericks. Half a day it went good, no panics...but later that day a panic showed up...after a few freezes and restarting my imac I got a panic again and this time it said memory corruption..

I looked at my ram (I have installed 2x4 gb) and it read 4gb. So one slot did not work right. I took it out and exchanged it with the other. Suddenly the imac saw 8 gb ram. So I assume that the whole time the panics where due to a bad connection of one bank. After changing the two rams no panics were given. I have been using the Imac for a while now. I hope this did it for me.

And also reinstalling mavericks was a good idea because I remember after I updated ML to Mavericks a pop up said that it has failed to update ML to Mavericks. But Mavericks was my new OS on the imac...

I therefore think some files where not (properly) installed even though Mavericks worked. But then the panics starting to occur. So by reinstalling Mavericks I more or less ruled out the possibility that the OS was to blame. And in my case the memory (I hope). I'll get back a few days from now to let you know if I had any panics again.

Dear Brian, I have run disk utility and the SSD 1TB Evo Samsung disk is OK. No errors reported.

Again my issue happens consistently ONLY when I make a cold restart of the machine and also zapping the P-RAM or access the Mac as a new user did NOT fixed the kernel panic crash at the startup.-

Again remember that my original OSX was Snow Leopard. I have then upgraded to 10.8 and just now to 10.9. Probably those upgrades have just carried some old / not compatible files.... (Although under 10.8 I did not run into any trouble).

What you thinkj?

I have the same problems

After upgrade from ML to mavericks system was slow.

I made a fresh intall...and now, after few days, during 100 images exports from Aperture systems goes in kenrnel panic! fan goes to maxium speed !

I never seen a kernel painic

Three times! I just make an emergency backup of my system

I lost 4 days of my work !!! for this Maverick system, I know it's free but plenty of bugs, it has been my fault to install e new os (Steve whera are you....sigh?

I don't suggest to use Maverick OS for Job you risk to lost your work!!! like me.

NowI Take the decision di dowgrade the system, I'm back to Mountai Lion

I'll never upgrade anymore to Maverick.

I disappoint to much!

Nov 10, 2013 9:23 AM in response to Libersab

The answer is to reinstall Mountain Lion. Honest. Save yourselves the stress (and time) messing around with Mavericks. I had lots of problems with Mavericks, including Finder crashes, failed restarts, dock not displaying.......and many more headaches. I hated Mavericks' dots (that have replaced colour labels) and the inability to double click a folder to open a new Finder window, anyway. It is such a relief to be back with Mountain Lion.

Hi all, I have formatted my SSD disc on my MacBook Pro 2012 model and than installed from scratches OSX 10.9.

For couple of days I did NOT experienced the kernel panic crash at startup until I have installed the following utilities:

1. HandOffs 2.0.9

2. Pathfinder 6.4

3. Default Folder X v4.5.12

After a full restart (cold) - I got again the below kernel panic.

HandsOffs might be the culprit, but not sure. As now, I have actually removed Pathfinder and Default Folder and it might looks ok....

Any clue???
