I had the same problem after security update, Maverick Migration assistant for Snow Leopard, and itunes Update 11.1.2.

iTunes won't start at all, one bounce and stop.

MacPro mid 2009

Mac os 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard)

I've found this discussion that resolved my problem :

This is for a intel imac running 10.6.8 not an iPad.

quit itunes helper, throw iTunes in the trash.

rerun software update and it installed a 'fresh' copy.

now importing back my iTunes Music Library.xml.... maybe this will finally work....

OK, I think I may have solved the problem. I had some itunes extras that I had installed over the years. There was an old visualizer and some scripts in: /Library/Application Support/iTunes. I deleted all and Like magic iTunes 11.1.3 is now stable in Mavericks.

Again: (root) Library/Application Support/iTunes/

Delete any power PC applications, visualizers or scripts

Hope that works for all...

Open a new finder window. Click on the computer icon of your computer. Open the library, application support is probably the second folder listed, click on it to open. Scroll down the list of files and folders and look for one named itunes, click on it. If it is not there or empty then this fix won't work, If it has anything in it, drag it to the trash and empty the trash.

I am having the same issue after updating to Mavericks 2 days ago and today I updated iTUnes to 11.1.3. Until I did this update in iTunes it was working fine.

I have more than one user account on my Mac Pro and never log in as an administrator - however when I switch users to an admin user. iTunes 11.1.3 works fine, but as I have not backed up my play lists as the normal user, I dont have any access to them.

Any suggestions as to what might be happening here and possible solutions?

I should comment that I somewhat resolved my issue in not getting a window to show up when opening iTunes. I wasn't able to click anything before they released the new update once I updated, I was able to mess around and switch the window to full screen mode. Apparently it worked because after closing full screen mode, I was able to see my entire library. The only problem is, I have to do this everytime I want to have iTunes visible. If anyone knows how to fix this problem, I would love to get your advice. I hope everyone else gets their issues resolved soon. 😟

Hi

I recently was playing with airplay for the living room apple tv, I was streaming using VLC and Apple TV I adjusted the monitor resolution back and forth several times as the sub titles were not visible at the bottom of the TV screen not the iMac.

Subsequently the iTunes window now sits halfwau up my screen and there is no way i can get it back which means I cannot see or access half of the information or categories.

Any thoughts on how to fix this will be much appreciated i do not recall ever having had a problem with iTunes before.

I am running iTunes 11.3 in Mavericks on a new 27in iMac.

So, I have finally figured out that in my case, the problem was not iTunes, but iPhoto.

My whole system was going unresponsive whenever I plugged my iPhone 5 in. I assumed it was iTunes syncing, but it was actually iPhoto attempting to launch and sync photos. It was getting stuck at such a low level that the icon never got a chance to appear in the Dock nor did it show up in Activity Monitor.

I figured it out after attempting to launch iPhoto manually for the first time since my Mavericks and iPhoto upgrades. Sometime around then, my photo library got corrupted. After iPhoto completely hung my system and I was abel to Force Quit it, I was able to spot some messages in Console. Several messages like below, led me to do the 'mdutil' search and turned up "~/Photos/iPhoto Library/iPod Photo Cache" folder as a problem. Moved it aside, and iPhoto was able to launch again.

mdworker(74813) deny file-read-data /Users/spencer/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Contents/PkgInfo (pre-plugin fstype:hfs fsflag:480D000 flags:250000005E diag:0 isXCode:0 uti:public.folder plugin:internalPlainTextImporter - find suspect file using: sudo mdutil -t 805196)
