Anyone else having iTunes / iTunes Store issues since Mavericks update?
iTunes 11.1.2
Mavericks (upgraded not clean install)
Symptoms:
- iTunes freezes / hangs / "not responding"
- Unable to sync, download anything, browse store, etc.
- When iTunes does work it is extremely slow.
- Spinning beachball
- Unresponsive
- Can't switch to app
Troubleshooting:
- Rebooted
- Tried in safe mode

Please let us know what the Genius bar says, and what Apple does for you when the Genius Bar can't fix it either (ie, admits there's a glitch, exchanges your mac mini...)
Well as ridiculous as this sounded, I finally tried the command-control-power off suggestion and "Viola" itunes is working fine. Which of course makes you wonder why it worked.
I am still amazed that we still have not received a response from Apple on this issue. I am still unable to use iTunes since upgrading months ago. I am a match subscriber and I am unable to even open itunes without the application crashing. I keep trying things but nothing seems to work. I am still looking for clues.
Heres is my report when itunes is open. Below is another report. I am still looking for a solution as i know many others are as well.

You have quite a lot of 3rd party software tools running. You might want to try to see if iTunes will run in safe mode, or maybe just disabling all of the 3rd party stuff first. Easiest might be to make a Genius Bar appointment and take the machine in.
Glad this is not just me!
The only thing I've found that worked was to make sure my iPhone was turned off whenever I had iTunes on. For some reason, every time my iTunes tries to connect to the phone, it freezes up. Actually it freezes up every time, but if the phone is not connected, I only get a beach ball for a little while. If I walk away and come back in a few minutes, iTunes seems to work fine.
I'm not sure how I'll back up my phone now, but at least I can use iTunes in the meantime! BTW, I've always thought iTunes sucked. Right now, it just ***** more than usual.
I had exactly this problem, when i started iTunes and then plugged in my iPad iTunes would no longer be responding.
I normally run iTubnes first, update all apps and then connect the iPAD.
My workaround was to not start iTunes and simply plug in the iPAD and iTunes worked fine.
It seems to me these are basic things that should not be going wrong with the software

I've been having the same problem. I don't think it has anything to do with Mavericks. My iTunes has been working fine until recently and there haven't been any new updates. Sometimes a computer restart would help, but now not even that does it. The "Checking iTunes Library" takes ages and then nothing, just nothing. No response. My library is on a Time Capsule and even going wired doesn't help much any more.
Frustrating.
So just in case anybody's still intrested, I got mine to work. Maybe it will help you too.
1. Force close iTunes if it's hanging and not responding.
2. Reboot your computer.
3. Click open iTunes while pressing the options key.
4. Open alternate library or create a new one on your computers HD when prompted.
5. Let it do its thing. Might take a small bit.
6. After it has finished and iTunes has finished quit iTunes again.
7. Now open iTunes again while holding down the options key and navigate to your original library (itl file).
8. Should be there.

Apple are clearly NOT listening to it's customers. But then agaian have they ever?
I went to the local Genius Bar today and his solution was "You've probably got too many songs and stuff in the library, can you get rid of some?"
BTW my library is 460GB
The qustion now has to be asked. Is there ANY viable alternative for Mac users to iTunes?
I imagine with DRM etc.. The answer will be no.
Yehh, it's happening with me too. After the Security Update it just quits unexpectedly. It's really annoying...
And my library is only 100 GBs.
For those who can't get iTunes to work at all, you may want to start over with an empty iTunes library and re-add all of your music and other content to it. The steps would be something like: quit iTunes, go to your Music folder, rename iTunes to iTunes.old, then start iTunes again. Go back to the iTunes.old folder, look in iTunes Media, and drag any songs, movies etc. you wish to keep, into the iTunes application. You won't keep your playlists but at least you will be able to listen to your music again.
