MacBook Pro 15 inch late 2011 vs MacBook Pro 15 inch Retina late 2013

I have been using my late 2011 15-inch model of the MacBook Pro since Christmas 2011. I've wanted to get a Retina display for a while but held out for the Haswell processor ones. I'm having a hard time figuring out a comparison between the two though. Other than one having a nice 2880 x 1800 resolution display, a newer processor, flash storage, and more ram. Most comparisons compare the new one to last years. Can anyone help me see more differences in the 11 model vs this one?

In a few years there will be newer CPUs, RAM, SSDs and Graphics cards that will be much better than what is available today.

If you keep using the computer you have take the difference in what you would spend on a new model and invest it. In a few years it will grow.

But then you don't NEED a new computer, You want one. Two totally different things.
