trash Is not showing full although It Is.
my trash on mavericks is full and it is showing as empty and i cant empty it because os mavericks thinks is empty. its weird! any1 with same issue?
iPhone 5s, iOS 7.0.3
I'm seeing this issue as well.
Same here. Looks like a bug.
As a temporary workaround, you can load Alfred and use its Empty Trash command to remove items. http://www.alfredapp.com
If I add a new item, then all items in Trash become visable.
This might be an issue with the permissions of the Trash. Perhaps you should try Disk Utility to restore permissions to the folders across the computer?
Thank you. Repairing Permissions worked for me.
i did RESTART my macbook and solved my problem. simple as that 😉
Repair Permissions worked, now I see trash in my trash can. Thanks!
Same problem here and nothing works, restart, permission repair, disk repair.
I don't understand why should I restart the computer every time this error occurrs and why should I repair every day the permissions to fix this issue (which I myself am experiencing). Instead, Apple should fix it by an update as it is clear that this is a system bug.
Same issue here. My solution, until Apple fixes it, is to click the Trash icon, which opens a Finder window of the Trash folder, and then click the Empty button at the top right of the Trash window.
Same issue and same solution — opening Trash as a Finder window
This problem has appeared for me in the last few days. I have tried all the various suggested fixes, repair hard disc, repair file permissions, clear caches, turn off "basket shows as full" all the time on Terminal and then turn it on again. I have even reinstalled Mavericks, which with my glacially slow broadband was a 14 hour job. No joy. Yes I can empty the basket by opening in Finder or use Onyx but it is still irritating. I can see I am going to have to go through the pain of a call to Apple Support and get escalated to level 2 (away from the list readers).

I'm still getting this with 10.9.2.
Now, if I click on the Trash, and close it, it will then correctly shows as "Full"
After doing the full reinstall without success, I then ran Onxy cleaner again for all categories, including kernel caches plus a secure delete of the trash. The trash can is now finally working properly again. Showing contents when it should and emptying properly. What a heave!
