my trash on mavericks is full and it is showing as empty and i cant empty it because os mavericks thinks is empty. its weird! any1 with same issue?

Just got a new MacBook Air with 10.9.2 and this issue just happened to me. I ran Repair Disk Permissions and then navigated into the Trash folder, right clicked and Empty Trash got rid of what was already in there.
I then created a folder on the desktop and deleted it and it showed up in the Trash as normal 🙂
So, it looks like it's a permissions issue.
Fixed permissions then relaunched Finder.
That may be what is getting corrected with you restart. Try it before going through a restart.
I found another (faster) solution. Click the apple button in the top left of your screen, hit Force quit, select Finder, click "relaunch". The trash should now show as full, no need to restart computer.
