All, I have found a thrid party App that works to Sync the contacts and caladar on Maverick...

it is not perfect but since it is so new (november 2013) I expect that it will get better... it works for me with my Iphone 5C and Macbook Pro... (normal USB cable)

Ok...Apple, Google and MS, how long will these guys keep this up!!! we are in 2013 and thier "locked in customers" are getting Pis___d...I keep following up on this manufacturers battle from time to time hoping one of these titans will do the right thing and resolve this "business issue" with Outlook for mac 2011, Google Gmail IMAP and Mac OS. What is the cause, who is to blame, who should resolve, bla bla bla....will we ever see resolve on this...life is too short and the following solution ignores this so called COMPLEX rocket science of a fantasy solution we are all waiting for!!!! We sent men on the moon in the 60's with computers that had 4K of ram...enough already!!! lol

Here is a tried and true solution which is maybe not going to be a big crowd pleaser but it is 99% rock solid and limits my indirect impact and envolvement in the "Pis___g contests among these software companies.

You may need to spend a few bucks, but no more hastles and the time saved will probably pay for this permanent fix!

Get your mac Installed with vmware fusion, load up with windows 7 or 8, get windows outlook 2010 or what ever you are comfortable with or may have hanging around.

Setup this outlook with gmail (google sync) and within a couple of hours your calender, emails and contacts are in sync on all your apple devices (iPhone, iPad, MBA, MBP, Windows PC, etc...)

PS: iCloud works great in this enviroment and I even get my reminders on all my machines (PC, vmware PC or Macs)

I am simplifying the install of vmware and all the other stuff to do (backup vmware on time machine, install windows, share files across OS's, setup your iPhones, PC's etc...) but if anyone is interested, I could oblige to run you through the install and config of what a typical install could look like.

Good news, if you venture this route you will do this only once and i am happy to report that after 3 years, it all works irrelevant of the apple version of hardware (MBA, MBP..etc..) or OS version or windows versions!!!!!!!!!!!!. All my macs are configured this way and I would vouch for this solution anyday!!!

This not only resolves outlook, but gives me the 100% compatibility option with word, excell, powerpoint, etc...none of the "oh, your on a mac" responses or vice versa plus the simplified multiple PST files for managing thousands of emails and archives....no voodoo stuff...

Hope this helps and for everyone who will want to attack my solution, sorry, but I am not paid by any of these titans to develop there business strategies or 'development by popularity' process, I have my own business to run and encouraging this fiasco to continue is not one of them!!! I just need tools that work and are easily maintained long term!!!

So in a nut shell, I have shelved my MBP, MBA and Mac Mini mail, calendar and contacts apps and migrated back to good old Outlook on windows in a rock solid vm environement!!!

Count me among the many disappointed Mac/Outlook users. The Maverick upgrade broke everything. I have multiple calendars with multiple accounts that all need to be synced with the iphone. Too bad it only half works.

I have been on the phone with both Apple and Microsoft to confirm that no fix is in the works. For what it's worth there isn't. It's hard to assign fault in these situations but if I had to, I feel it lies with Apple. They knew that Outlook 2011 worked through isync yet when releasing Mavericks last year they decided to terminate support knowing the impact this would have on customers.

Strangely, they did something similar with their iPhone5. My OS was only four years old but they made me deal with the hassle of upgrading (which could only be done onsite by an authorized reseller not even through app store) just to be able to sync contacts with my phone. Way too quick to drop support within their own ecosystem.

I (and others) also suffer from erratic mouse issues when using PowerPoint. One used to be able to fix this by turning off inertial scrolling on the magic mouse. But they took away the ability to adjust this in Mavericks and don't appear to have a fix for this long standing issue. Kind of strange when an OS loses functionality with a new release.

I have feared the day when Apple might stong arm (or at least seriously neglect) those that have trusted them and bought into their ecosystem. For me that day has come. I will liikely be returning the MacBook Pro retina I just purchased.

Microsoft had 6 months (same as the other developers) at least in which to implement an alternate system, they chose to stay with their own proprietary sync system, Exchange. Use that.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I understand I probably would have to use Exchange - if I were keeping my Mac.

I don't believe iSync was proprietary but rather a standard supported by Apple (used by multiple manufacturers/developers) that they then stopped. For similar reasons (though on the iOS side), I couldn't even sync an iPhone 5S with a 10.6 operating system as noted above.

Again, it's only my opinion, but Apple knew what was in the market with Office 2011 (and that MS releases Office in 3 to 4 year cycles). They should ideally have kept sync support for Mavericks to give MS time to accomodate in its next Office release. Then by all means drop it.

Calendaring is by nature cross-platform and Outlook, as the predominant program, should be viewed as the standard here. iCal just doesn't work well for cross-platform calendaring. To drop support for Outlook without an equivalent alternative is neglecting customers who have trusted Apple to make sure their ecosystem works (as I think many further up this thread would agree).

But there is an alternative, and a very good one. MS Exchange. MS Outlook supports that, but not Apples system. MS made the decision, not Apple.

I have officially bailed. I'm basically ignoring the Outlook calendar, except in cases where I'm invited to an event via Outlook, in which case I just drag the event to the Calendar icon (not the open calendar) and it all works just fine. Slight pain in the butt, but now my phone, iPad and computer all know what time it is.

I have tried this and - yes basic - but brings a copy of my outlook calendar to my iCal.

it's good enough for me.

my iPhone is sync'ed with Corporate exchange account.

on my mac i use Outlook 2011 14.3.9

According to the documentation in DeviceSync, as i understand it, this program allows your iOS device to overwrite contacts and Calendar in OS, sort of replacing iCloud sync.

What i was looking for was a way to sync contacts and calendar in OUTLOOK with OS Calendar and Contacts on my iMac running Mavericks.

Microsoft Exchange will do that for you.

Anyone can use it, from 1 person at home to 100,000 people in a large corporation.

It's the best, it's just not free.

Will just have to wait for a less expensive solution.
