Please start a new Discussion.

You will require an extensive amount of assistance after having installed MacKeeper as well as numerous other system modifications notorious for causing problems.

So a re-install is in order then?

It will be easier and faster to erase your Mac and configure it from the ground up than to track down and eradicate all the junk. Even if you were to do that, there is a significant likelihood that MacKeeper may have deleted or corrupted essential files that cannot be rectified by any action short of erasing and reinstalling OS X and everything else you require.

With a lot of people thinking that it's to a spsific type of Mac or 3rd party software. Well I must say that I've seen this freezing problem on a few different Macs.

A 2009 MacBook Pro 13" and 15"

2010 MacBook Pro 15"

and 2012 Mac Mini.

All of which had a fresh install of Mavericks. All exhibit this freezing problem, although not as bad as there were more apps and what not. The 2012 Mac Mini is my daily Mac. I recently changed the hard drive, so I decided to do a fresh install of Mavericks before using Time Machine. I tested this area before I use Time Machine, move some apps to a second page. Well it froze up. Granted it froze up more so when I used Time Machine.

I tried to figure out myself from discussions here in December how to get rid of very slow scrolling, long waits to open up Mail, Safari (the regular Apple apps) --- the problems a lot of people report having with Mavericks 10.9.1.

Finally I took my 2008 iMac with all the peripherals in to the genius bar (a two hour drive!).

All the problems were solved there by updating the software for my Logitech mouse and keyboard.

Never thought of that! It was worth the hours of driving and lugging in the iMac!
