X Mavericks not compatible with Canon C7055 UFR II Printer

Well, I installed the new OS and when finished the installl it said it wasnt compatible with the office Canon ImageRunner ADV C7055 printer. I am a graphic designer and printing is what i need to do everyday.

Is there a quick fix? Anyone?

Yea, I just downloaded and installed this link... well, I think, I previously installed other UFR II drivers... how do I know that when I downloaded the one from this link that my printer is using the latest version? Does that make sense?

It sends something to the printer and then it gives me an error message that says "PDL IMG Invalid Data" on the printer.

To check what version you have used when you created the printer, open Printers & Scanners and select the C7055 in the Printers list. Then click on Options & Supplies and with the General tab displayed, you will see an entry called Driver Version and this should say v10.2.0 as shown below.

If it shows a different version, then delete this printer and add the printer again. This time ensure you select the correct PPD for the v10.2.0 driver for the iR ADV C7055, as shown below.

I downloaded that link above for the 10.9 driver for the canon but for some reason the correct version isnt showing for my driver.

And when I choose Select Software when installing the printer i have multiple versions ... all of which I gave a shot at installing and deleting when it wasnt the version v10.2.0 that Pahu referenced. The only other version for the driver that appears is 1.0

Good work.

I was just writing up a reply when I got the email to show you fixed it.

What I was going to say and still will for the sake of others is that the v2.0 printer that you show in the first image is a result of selecting either of the 2 models showing UFR II in the name in the second image.

And for the printer that showed v1.0, this would have been created using the Canon PPD, which is one of the two printer names listed in the second image that just have the model number.

This is one unfortunate issue of the new UFR2 v10.2 driver, in that it uses the same naming schema as the Canon PPD. So if you have both installed on the Mac, it is not obvious which entry is for the UFR2 driver and which belongs to the Canon PPD. The options a user has is to do as you did and create a printer using each entry and then checking the driver version after it is created. Or, the better approach would be to remove the Canon PPDs from /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources. These files are named "CNXXXX5E1.PPD" where XXXX represents the model number. With only these PPDs removed, then you would just get the model entry for the v10.2 driver.

This driver will staple. You just need to let it know that the copier has a finisher.

Open Printers / Scanners and select the C2550. Then press Options / Supplies and select the Utility tab and then press Open Printer Utility. This will open the UFRII Printer Utility. Here you will see a Printer Information button. Press that and a window will appear showing what accessories the copier has. The finisher should be listed. OK this window to close it and then Quit the printer utility. Now you should have the option to staple in the Finishing menu.

Can you open Finder and navigate to Applications > Utilities. Here you will see System Information. Open this and in the left column you will see Printers. Select it and if you have more than one printer, select the Canon printer in the top right pane. The bottom right pane will show information about the print queue. Can you copy and paste that information back here please.

I also need you to open a web browser and enter the IP address of the Canon as the URL. This will connect you to the internal web page of the copier. Can you take a screen shot of what you see and also paste back here. I want to check what print controller is being used. Note that if your Canon is using the optional Fiery print controller, then this is not compatible with the UFR2 driver.

Ok, so I'm having the same problem as Eduardo and thought I'd just follow your instructions as well. Spent half the morning with an IT guy who doesn't know much in reference to Macs. Let me know if I need to give you something different than this info.

This is your issue. You have created the printer queue using IPP. Remove this printer queue and add again, this time selecting the Line Printer Daemon - LPD protocol.

Trying to connect to a Canon C7055 Printer

You seem to be the resident guru on the Canon printers and OSX Mavericks...

When trying to print from my mac, it time-outs out after "trying to connect" to the Canon iR-ADV C7055
(and when printing to a Canon iR5055 it gets passed to the printer but shows a “NG” in the status log on the printer.)

The setup all looks good including verifying Department ID management. My mac is communicating with the Printer. The canon rep is all out of ideas too.

I have cleared out old drivers, restarted, reloaded new drivers, zapped the pRam, ran fix permissions, etc. I am stumped.
